🎶 SUMMER BAND 2026 is here! 🎶

The North Battleford City Kinsmen Band 2025/26 season has ended, but wait, there's more! NBCKB is running its first-ever summer band for youth, adults, and "come-back" musicians to make music together!

🗓 Rehearsals: Every Thursday, 7:00–8:30 PM
📅 June 25 – August 27
🎼 Performance: August 27 (tentative)

💰 Cost:
• Adults: $50
• Youth (under 18): $30
• Drop-in: $8 per rehearsal

🎺 All interested musicians are welcome! Playing experience is appreciated (3+ years ideal), but everyone is encouraged to join.

🎶 Young Musicians Shine at Honour Band in North Battleford 🎶

Two weeks ago, the North Battleford City Kinsmen Band Organization proudly hosted their inaugural Grade 6–8 Honour Band event at the Dekker Centre for the Performing Arts, bringing together more than 65 talented young musicians from the Battlefords and Lloydminster area. The day concluded with an evening concert attended by over 300 community members, showing strong support for music education in our region.

Students were selected for Honour Band based on recommendations from their school music/band teachers, recognizing musical skill, dedication, and positive attitude. Participating schools included Bishop Lloyd Middle School, Bready Elementary School, École Monseigneur Blaise Morand (EMBM), Holy Family School, John Paul II Collegiate, North Battleford Comprehensive High School (NBCHS), Notre Dame School, and St Vital Catholic Elementary.

The event featured guest conductor Nick Fanner, who brought energy, expertise, and encouragement to rehearsals throughout the day. Students began with sectional rehearsals led by instrument specialists from the University of Saskatchewan, allowing them to refine technique and build confidence before coming together as a full ensemble.

By the end of the day, the Honour Band had prepared four pieces, all performed during the evening concert. The program also featured performances by the John Paul II Collegiate Band and the North Battleford Comprehensive Concert Band, both individually and as a combined ensemble. The concert concluded with an inspiring performance by the North Battleford City Kinsmen Senior Band, highlighting the lifelong impact of music education.

The North Battleford City Kinsmen Band organization continues to offer Senior, Intermediate, and Choir programs for musicians of all ages and experience levels, and encourages students and community members to get involved for the 2026–2027 season.

This Honour Band event was a true celebration of young talent, dedicated educators, and a community united by music.
