Remembering Proof 🕊️❤️
2 October 1973 -11 April 2006
Dupree Holton, better known as Proof, was a highly influential Detroit rapper and a central figure in the city’s hip-hop scene. He is most widely recognized for his membership in the multi-platinum rap group D12 and his deep, lifelong friendship with Eminem.
Proof was instrumental in forming D12, a group of Detroit rappers including Eminem, Bizarre, Kuniva, Kon Artis, and Swifty McVay.
He was a cornerstone of the Detroit underground scene, famously hosting rap battles at the Hip-Hop Shop, which served as a proving ground for many artists, including Eminem.

Throughout Eminem’s meteoric rise, Proof served as his primary hype man during world tours like the Up in Smoke Tour and the Anger Management Tour.

While known for D12, Proof released two studio albums: I Miss the Hip Hop Shop (2004) and Searching for Jerry Garcia (2005).

He appeared in the semi-autobiographical Eminem film 8 Mile as “Lil’ Tic” and provided the inspiration for the character “Future".
Proof was tragically shot and killed on April 11, 2006, at the CCC Club on 8 Mile Road in Detroit following an altercation over a game of pool. His death significantly impacted the hip-hop community, especially Eminem, who has since dedicated numerous songs and albums to his memory, such as “Difficult,” “You’re Never Over,” and “Stepping Stone”.
Rest in peace King đź‘‘

G-Funk step to this, I dare ya! 🎶

Warren G and Nate Dogg released the definitive G-funk anthem “Regulate” in 1994, which famously samples Michael McDonald’s “I Keep Forgettin’ (Every Time You’re Near).” The track follows the duo through a night in Long Beach, blending smooth melodic vocals with gritty storytelling to become one of the most successful hip-hop collaborations of the decade.
