Collective 4891

Collective 4891 Our events and projects invite people of all backgrounds, experience levels, cultures, and identities to create with and inspire each other.

Organising events and projects around the idea that art has the power to heal, build community, have important and constructive conversations, and shift culture for the better 🌱 Collective 4891 is a group of people with different skills that organises around the idea that art has the power to heal, build community, have important and constructive conversations, and ultimately, shift culture for th

e better. One of our first big projects was a zine project that collected artwork of different mediums themed around community care, which invited over $1100 to be donated towards local organisations that value anti-oppression and specifically, anti-Black racism work. With our recent expansion of the team, we are looking forward to planning events that cover a wider variety of art mediums and themes that resonate with more people.

🌟 Introducing "Weaving Futures"!🌟

After months of hard work, Collective 4891 is so excited to announce the publication of our 4th zine project! This edition features the work of 17 incredible artists who responded to the themes of desired futures, creative disruptions, and radical re-thinkings of reality. We are so happy to finally share the result with you! 🥳

Copies of Weaving Futures are now available for order through the Google form linked in our bio. Please send us a message if you have any questions or concerns.

This year, in the belief that building better worlds can start within our own communities, Collective 4891 will be distributing zines in exchange for PWYC donations (suggested $10) to local initiatives and organizations that support mutual aid, solidarity, or support for at-risk or in-need groups in Tiohtià:ke (“Montréal”). Help us reach our $700 goal!

This post includes our suggestions of places to donate in case you don't already have one in mind—please see the document via the linktree in our bio titled “Weaving Futures Donations” for more detailed information.

Finally, thanks to and the Concordia Council on Student Life for their generous support in the creation of this zine and the organization of our launch event.

Collective 4891 x community zine! ❤️‍🔥💫

Last month, we hosted a collaborative zine-making event at Coop BMP with collage artist where we asked folks to respond to the themes of collective solidarity, community, and liberation. This digital zine is the result of that event! Each page was created by an individual in attendance and has been compiled here into a collective piece. Thank you so much to everyone who came and contributed, and we hope this little zine can be a source of hope and encouragement to keep working toward a better world🌱

For a more interactive version of the zine, check out the link in our bio, where you can "flip" through the pages and see each piece up close! 🌟
