ORIGIN STORIES w/ BARU 🔊

"What was your entry point into the UK club sound?"

"It actually started with grime when I was 14 or 15. I was listening to Hadouken! — this band blending rock and electronic music with heavy 808s and raw grime baselines. I was instantly fascinated.

From there, I went down this deep rabbit hole: watching movies like 24 Hour Party People and Trainspotting, diving into dubstep, shouts to Plastician, and eventually discovering other bass heavy sounds."

RAVE CULTURE w/ BARU 🎧

"What element of UK club culture is hardest to capture outside the UK?"

"In the UK and Ireland, raving starts so young. I remember being on a freezing beach in the middle of the night with my mates and meeting new people, blasting music and just having the best time.

The hardest thing to capture is that raw, spontaneous environment—but bringing that energy to the floor is everything to me. I want us all to let go and relive our childhood and make new friends! Community is key, without it, what is there?

INSIDE THE SOUND w/ BARU 🎧

"Which sonic signatures define your identity as an artist?"

"UK club sounds as a whole will always be my home base. Typically, it’s fast. It’s got a really good bassline and a really solid kick underneath—that’s what you need.

Whenever I sit down to make a track, I ask myself: Would this play out in a club? Would I dance to this? Does it have a groove you can lose yourself in?"
