The Cultural Logic of Immersion: a talk by José Luis de Vicente
The Antimetric Institute is delighted to invite you to an informal evening with Spanish curator, researcher, and artistic director José Luis de Vicente, hosted by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer.
In this talk, de Vicente examines the cultural logic of immersion as both a technological condition and a cultural paradigm. Mapping the historical development of immersive experiences—from early panoramic spectacles to today’s algorithmically driven environments—he traces how artistic, commercial, and narrative experiments have shaped the field. Drawing on his curatorial practice at the intersection of art, science, and digital culture, de Vicente will offer critical frameworks to understand the promises and pitfalls of immersion, proposing strategies for more reflective, inclusive, and politically aware immersive practices in the future.
The talk will be followed by a discussion and Q&A.
This event is designed to be intimate and we have very limited capacity. To guarantee your seat, please reserve by writing to [email protected]
