There’s a moment on a wedding day when everything you spent months imagining suddenly becomes real.

The Monique Lhuillier gown. The René Caovilla Cinderella heels underneath it. The flowers, the candlelight, the tables filled with the people you love.

Every detail intentionally chosen to feel like you.

And then the day arrives… and you simply live it.

You laugh loudly. You cry with your family. You hug your guests. You sit at the tables you spent months envisioning and dance until the room looks completely different than it did a few hours earlier.

That’s what I loved so much about photographing R&A.

We first photographed them at their engagement party last year. Then Rachel’s bridal shower. And two weeks ago, we finally watched them become husband and wife at Château Vaudreuil.

By then, we knew them. We knew their families. We recognized the faces around the room.

Looking through these photographs now feels a little like being there all over again.

Your mom helping you into your dress.

Your dad seeing you as a bride.

That look across the dinner table that only the two of you understand.

The dance floor getting a little louder and less perfect with every song.

This is the kind of wedding we love to photograph.

Couples with incredible taste who create something beautiful and entirely their own and then trust their team enough to forget about it and simply be there.

Some places deserve more than just being the backdrop.

Lake Como is one of them.

There’s something about being on the water here, the villas disappearing into the mountains, the light changing as you move across the lake, the boats passing beside you, and Grand Hotel Tremezzo sitting along the shore.

And when we photograph somewhere like this, we don’t just want proof that you were there.

We want the place to become part of the photograph.

The architecture. The fashion. The movement of the boat. The wind catching the dress. The little moments happening between the photographs you thought you wanted.

Some frames need direction. Some need movement. And sometimes the best thing we can do is recognize that something beautiful is already happening and leave it completely alone.

That balance is such a big part of the way we see a wedding day.

Because years from now, I don’t only want you to remember what Lake Como looked like.

Sometimes the destination isn’t somewhere far away. It’s simply a place you fell in love with.

M&M first came to Canada together in the summer of 2023, travelling through Toronto, Montréal and Québec City. But Montréal stayed with them.

So when it came time to choose where they would bring their favorite people together for their wedding weekend, they came back.

They celebrated at the Forest & Stream Club, surrounded by the people they love, in a city that had already become part of their story.

And that is exactly how we love to photograph a wedding.

Not as a production built around photographs, but as an experience worth being fully present for.

We step in when a little direction can create something iconic. We step back when the moment needs nothing from us.

And throughout it all, we’re watching for the expressions, interactions and fleeting pieces of the day that our couples may never have seen themselves.

“My fiancé keeps telling me he’s camera shy and photogenic.”

We hear some version of this on almost every consultation.

And then the wedding day comes… 🤍

The truth is, we don’t expect either of you to know what to do in front of our cameras.

You don’t need to know where to put your hands, which angle looks best, or how to suddenly become a model because it’s your wedding day.

That’s our job.

And the groom deserves his fashion moment too.

The tailoring. The watch. The cufflinks. The shoes. The details he chose because they felt like him.

Give us good light, five minutes and a little trust.

A little direction. The right angle. Knowing when to step in and suddenly the groom who told us he “wasn’t photogenic” has his own fashion campaign moment.

And then? We let you get back to your wedding.

Because incredible portraits shouldn’t require turning your day into a photoshoot.

Imagine spending months choosing every detail of your wedding… only to barely see any of it in your photographs.

The dress you tried on six times before saying yes.

The corset underneath it.

The Louboutin or Jimmy Choo you knew would hurt by midnight but bought anyway.

His watch. His cufflinks. The tailoring of his tux.

The flowers, the tablescape, the stationery, the space.

You didn’t choose those things by accident.

And I don’t think they should be photographed like an afterthought.

Because a camera doesn’t automatically turn something beautiful into a beautiful photograph.

The photographer’s eye does.

That’s one of the things I care about most when photographing a wedding.

Not simply documenting what was there, but noticing the relationships between things.

The way a hand falls against a corset.

A watch beneath a sleeve.

The shape of a dress against a room.

The way candlelight hits the table just before everyone sits down.

Knowing when the dress should be perfectly still and when it needs movement.

When architecture should become part of the composition.
When direct flash makes something feel like a fashion campaign.

When black and white strips away everything unnecessary.

And when something looks so damn good that it simply deserves to be photographed.

Of course we’re watching for your mom’s expression during the ceremony and your best friend losing it on the dance floor.

But we’re also watching for style.

Because you spent months creating a world that feels like you.

Our job is to notice these details!

Not as a checklist of details, but as part of the story.

Because there’s a difference between remembering what your wedding looked like…

and remembering how beautiful it felt.

Maybe that’s the secret sauce.

We notice what deserves to become a photograph.

Consider this your sign to make the bridal party part of the vision.

There’s something I love about a wedding where everyone seems to understand the assignment.

Not because everyone needs to match perfectly, or because your friends should feel like they’ve been cast for a photoshoot.

But because when fashion is already part of the way you see the world, it naturally becomes part of the celebration too.

Beautiful dresses. Black tie. Sunglasses by the lake. Ch*****ne before dinner. Your closest friends dressed impossibly well against the faded walls of an Italian villa.
And somewhere between the photographs that feel like a campaign, there are the ones I love even more.

Someone fixing your dress.
Your best friend making you laugh when you’re supposed to be posing.

A hand reaching for yours.
Everyone talking at once.
Fashion gives the photographs their presence.
The people give them their meaning.
And when the two come together, a bridal party photograph doesn’t have to feel like a bridal party photograph at all.

It can feel like a scene from the life you always imagined having.

Paris always makes me think differently about wedding photography.

Maybe it’s because beauty here doesn’t feel like something reserved for special occasions.

People get dressed beautifully just to have dinner.

Architecture that has existed for centuries becomes the backdrop of someone’s ordinary Tuesday. Fashion, art and history somehow coexist with people rushing to work, drinking coffee and crossing the street.

And I think there’s something about that contradiction that I want more of in my own photographs.

Something elevated, but still effortless.
Fashion-forward, but still human.
Intentional, without feeling overly perfect.

Because I don’t think choosing between fashion and feeling should ever be part of wedding photography.

You can care deeply about the dress. The architecture. The composition. The way an image could almost belong in the pages of a magazine.

And still want photographs that feel completely like you.

I love creating photographs with intention. Finding beautiful light, noticing the lines of a building, adjusting a hand by an inch, or knowing when a dress needs movement instead of another pose.

But I never want the pursuit of a beautiful photograph to make someone feel like they’re spending their wedding day on a photoshoot.

Maybe that’s the balance I’m always chasing.

Knowing when to create something beautiful, and knowing when to simply let life happen in front of us.

Images with the presence of fashion, but the feeling of a memory.

Paris was a beautiful reminder that we never really have to choose between the two. 🤍
