Cecil got himself a glow-up… and we are HERE for it. 😍

That beautiful new deck is officially ready for morning coffees, afternoon visits, and evening wind-downs under the trees. There’s just something special about sitting out here, listening to the birds, feeling the breeze, and watching the world slow down a little.

Whether you’re stopping by for a visit, a stay, or just to admire the view — Cecil’s new front porch is the perfect place to do it.

We have a feeling this deck is going to see a lot of stories, laughs, and good company this season.

Sun is shining and we’re looking at a beautiful 22° and sunny kind of day at The Maverick Saloon.

Today’s vibes are all about the outdoors — we’ll be soaking it up with breaks happening on the South Back 40 patio where the fresh air and sunshine just hit different.

Now the real question is…

Do we set up the patio bar today? 🍻😎

Because this feels like a “cold drink outside” kind of day.

She came. She saw. She booked. ✨

Today we welcomed our very first bride through the doors of The Maverick Saloon — and we are beyond excited to share that she has officially confirmed her wedding here for 2027.

This space was built for love stories, laughter, and unforgettable celebrations, and seeing it through a bride’s eyes for the first time was something really special.

The Maverick is officially becoming a place where forever begins, and we couldn’t be more grateful to be part of this journey right from the start.

Here’s to first brides, first bookings, and many beautiful weddings ahead. 🥂

Out for a little evening walk-about to plan today’s jobs…

and of course the full security patrol team came along.

Meow Meow leading the recon, Sheba close behind, and partner in crime, Gus, the black cat, bringing up the rear.

They checked the wood pile, wandered the trails, sniffed absolutely everything, and made sure we were properly prepared for a big work day.

This morning? Beautiful double-digit weather and we’re ready to roll.

My grandson Dawson came to hang out at The Maverick the other day, the shuffleboard table turned into a full-blown “curling rink” according to this 8 year old.

He picked the metal weights and said, “These are curling rocks, Nanny. We’re playing curling.”😂

And let me tell you… he knew exactly what he was doing.
He got shot rock and officially beat his Nanny.

Safe to say the competition is already fierce around here.

No work at The Maverick today — Mother Nature had other plans and she wasn’t asking for opinions.

Tucked inside The Maverick is our cozy little reading corner where guests can slow down, put their feet up, and step back in time.

Our shelves are filled with western tales and local history reads — the kind of stories that feel right at home here. Whether you’re staying the night or just visiting, you’re welcome to sign out a book, settle into the chair, and let the pages take you somewhere else for a while.

A special thank you to Jeff Philipp for the wonderful idea that brought this little space to life and to Carrie and Jare Williams from Thrifters in Millet for collecting these books for us. We love how it adds even more character to The Maverick experience.

Gravel in the boots, lumber everywhere, and a whole lot of “hold that board right there!”

We kicked off the deck build for our second fifth wheel trailer today thanks to another beautiful double-digit Alberta day.

Not glamorous. Not fancy. Just good old-fashioned hard work turning into something pretty great for our future guests.

She’s coming together, one board (and one sore back) at a time.

At The Maverick Saloon, memories don’t just happen… they get documented 🤠📸

Meet our Maverick Photo Booth — hats, dress-up pieces, saddles, and a whole lot of western personality.

Hop in, grab a hat, sit in the saddle, make a face, strike a pose… or don’t. The best photos usually happen when nobody is trying too hard anyway.

This little corner is where the laughs get loud, the cameras come out, and guests leave with stories (and pictures) they didn’t plan on taking.

It’s not fancy.
It’s not serious.
It’s just plain fun.

We hosted our first dinner party of the season at The Maverick Saloon… all to celebrate hitting double digits on the thermometer 😂

Nothing fancy.
Just good food, good company, and that feeling that winter is finally loosening its grip.

The lights were on, the table was full, and the stories got longer as the evening went on — exactly how it’s supposed to be out here.

This is what the Maverick is really about.

Floors scrubbed. Counters gleaming. That beautiful Heartland vintage stove shining like it’s ready for its close-up.
