As you undoubtedly know, touring in Canada can be challenging because of the distances. Also, in recent years, the performing arts have been undergoing a crisis although most of the big stars playing in large arenas continue to do well. One notable artist that I saw a few years ago, accompanied by a superb band, was asked how things were going. He replied, "Now we have to work twice as hard for half the money."
We've been hearing a great deal lately about supporting Canadian companies, especially small ones whose survival is in doubt. The great majority of the artists our association (le Moulin) present are Canadian and they deserve to be able to make a living from their art and to be supported. Some people would say the same thing about le Moulin but out of fear of appearing too self-serving I'll leave it to others to determine whether our service is still worth supporting or even of continuing.
This coming Sunday, September 6 at 7:30 ($35), we're presenting two remarkable artists at the Richelieu, namely Michael Jerome Browne (the only place where this 6-time Juno nominee and multi-award winner will be featured as solo act on this tour) followed by Grouyan Gombo. As usual there will be tickets at the door. We're confident that you'll be a happier person for having attended and, as usual, we’ll be very grateful for your presence.
