If I have not answered an email the past week or two, I apologize….. we’ve been dealing with family emergencies and now this….

Marley has a hole in his eye - our vet thought it was healing, but last night it ruptured again….. we have been at the canine ophthalmologist most of today and he having emergency eye surgery tomorrow.

If I have ignored someone please remessage me and I will do my best to respond ASAP…. Life keeps handing me challenges lately….

Not gonna sugarcoat it - 2020 was really tough for us... apparently balloons aren’t really needed during the lockdown of a pandemic...

We are looking forward to helping everyone celebrate in 2021 as we toss the masks and hug our friends and family again.

DONATIONS URGENTLY NEEDED:

I lied to you guys. I said that MGW wouldn't be hosting a Teen Gift Drive this year. However, we've received a last minute plea for help and I know we're always up for a challenge!

Staff at Milieu Children & Family Services have asked if we are able to support three teens who will be spending the 2020 holiday season at the East Vancouver emergency group home.

The group home provides an opportunity to “interrupt” a youth’s street life activity and to assess the youth’s immediate needs or intentions. Youth are usually well known to the child welfare system and street level services. Immediate concerns focus on the youth’s health and safety but, where appropriate, rapid assessment is available to identify mental health issues and assist with planning.

Without our support, these individuals will go without any gifts under the tree this Christmas... and I know the beautiful MGW Community won't let that happen! We have been gifted a wonderful opportunity to brighten their spirits and remind them that there are many people who care about them.

We will be supporting three teens:

An 18 year old female.
An 18 year old male.
A 15 year old trans male.

The care workers have works with the teens to come up with wish lists. MGW will pool monetary donations together and purchase items off each list, spreading donations equally between them.

Items wished for by the 15 year old trans male include: wireless headphones, an mp3 player, snacks, an Uber gift card, and an super cool LED cat light.

Items wished for by the 18 year old female include: a portable speaker, a couple of cozy blankets, some sweet treats, an Uber gift card, and a string of rainbow LED lights.

Items wished for by the 18 year old male include: USB charger, a portable speaker, fast food gift card, a funky pair of gaming socks, a couple of gaming remote controls, and a basketball video game.

If we are able to check off all of these items (that would be INCREDIBLE!) then additional donations will be used to purchase gift cards for clothing stores and stocking stuffers. If you'd like to donate something that's not on the list, please contact [email protected].

We're on a tight deadline and are hoping to get the items ordered by Tuesday, December 15 so that they arrive to the group home in time for Christmas.

We are trying so hard to get thru this.... and many ‘small business’ don’t even qualify for Government loans as our payrolls are not high enough.... that’s because we don’t pay ourselves!!!
