I’m so happy to welcome back Tammy and Kevin from The Crystal Emporium for their second year at Shine’s Modern Folk Gathering.

Please help me welcome Charlotte from Krazy Kat Lady Bannock and Baking and Krazy Kat Lady Cree-ations to Shine’s Modern Folk Gathering!

This will be Charlotte’s first Shine event, so I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting her yet, but I have heard wonderful things about both her baking and her beautiful beadwork.

What began nearly a decade ago as a passion for baking has grown into a business that has become a familiar sight at farmers markets, festivals, car shows, and community events. From fresh bannock to homemade baking, Charlotte loves creating delicious treats and sharing them with others.

A few years ago, she discovered another creative passion when she took a beading class and fell in love with the art. That experience inspired the creation of Krazy Kat Lady Cree-ations, where she now creates stunning beadwork, dreamcatchers, suncatchers, and other handcrafted pieces that celebrate creativity, culture, and connection.

I have heard rave reviews about her bannock, and after seeing some of her beadwork, I can understand why people are so excited to find her at events. Her earrings are absolutely beautiful, and each piece reflects the care and artistry she puts into her work.

Charlotte will also be leading our Dreamcatcher Crafting Class on Saturday, June 6 at 10:15 am. 🌕 Once in a Blue Moon 🌕

Tonight we are gifted with a rare Blue Moon.

Despite its name, the moon won't actually appear blue. A Blue Moon is an extra full moon within a calendar cycle, which is where the saying "once in a blue moon" comes from — something rare, special, and worth paying attention to.

This particular Blue Moon arrives just one week before Shine's Modern Folk Gathering, making it a beautiful time to pause, reflect, and set an intention for the season ahead.

If the skies are cloudy where you are tonight, or if you're listening to thunder roll across the prairie like I am, don't worry. The moon is still shining beyond the clouds. Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen from the comfort of a favorite chair beside a window, watching the rain and listening to the storm.

✨ A Simple Blue Moon Ritual ✨

Take a small piece of paper and write down:
• One thing you are ready to release.• One thing you are ready to welcome.

Perhaps you're releasing fear, doubt, worry, or old habits that no longer serve you.

Perhaps you're welcoming joy, abundance, friendship, healing, creativity, or peace.

Sit quietly by a window and take a few deep breaths. Read your words aloud or silently to yourself as you listen to the rain, the wind, or the distant rumble of thunder.

When you're finished, fold the paper and place it somewhere meaningful — beneath a crystal, tucked into a journal, or somewhere you'll discover it again in a few months' time.

As you do, say:

"Under this rare moon, I release what no longer serves me and welcome what is meant for me. May I move forward with clarity, courage, and an open heart."
