I think I understand my brides a little differently now.

I've spent years working with couples, planning weddings and helping brides navigate all the decisions that come with their wedding day.

But this year, I experienced a wedding from a completely different perspective; as the Mother of the Bride.

And surprisingly, one of the biggest things it taught me wasn't about being the mom....

It was about being the bride.

As moms, we have the benefit of life experience. We've planned our own weddings. We've learned from things we would do differently. We've hosted parties, raised families, managed budgets and figured things out through a whole lot of trial and error.

But for many of our daughters, especially those getting married in their twenties, this is their first time doing any of this.

They're suddenly expected to make hundreds of decisions about something they've never planned before.

How much should things cost?
Who should they invite?
Which traditions should they keep?
What vendors do they need?
What happens when family members have different opinions?
How are they supposed to know what they're forgetting?

And all while trying to plan one of the most meaningful days of their lives.

Watching my own daughter go through that gave me a new appreciation for the brides I work with.

Sometimes what seems like a simple decision to those of us who've been through a few more chapters of life doesn't feel simple when you're experiencing it for the first time.

It reminded me that my job isn't just to know weddings.

It's to listen. To explain. To reassure. To give guidance when it's wanted. And sometimes, to simply remind a bride that she doesn't have to have all the answers.

I think becoming a Mother of the Bride has made me a better wedding coordinator- not because I understand mothers better, but because I understand my brides a little more.

And that's something I'll carry with me into every wedding I have the privilege of being part of.

One of my favorite details from this summer....đź’• It was something that had already been part of a love story for 30 years.

As a special surprise for her mom, our bride displayed her mother’s wedding dress alongside a photo from her parents’ wedding day — celebrating 30 years of marriage.

I absolutely loved this. 🥹

There are so many beautiful details that go into a wedding day, but sometimes the ones that stand out the most aren’t the things you buy or find on Pinterest.
They’re the things that already have a story.

A family heirloom. Your grandmother’s jewellery. A photograph. A piece of a parent’s wedding dress. A tradition that’s been passed down.

Those little pieces of your family and your story are what can make a wedding feel truly personal.

This was such a beautiful way to honour the love that came before theirs — and definitely one of my favourite details from this wedding season.

If you could incorporate one meaningful family item into your wedding day, what would it be?

The People You Choose to Stand Beside You đź’™

There's something pretty special about the people you choose to stand beside you on your wedding day.

Of course, your wedding party makes for some pretty great photos—but they're also so much more than that.

They're the people calming your nerves before you walk down the aisle. Helping with your dress. Making you laugh when you need it. Holding your bouquet, fixing your veil, keeping the energy up and celebrating right alongside you.

And some of my favourite moments to witness on a wedding day are actually the little ones between the bride, groom and the people they've chosen to have beside them.

A little advice from me: don't choose your wedding party because you feel like you should. Choose the people who make you feel supported, comfortable and completely yourself.

Big wedding party, small wedding party, or no wedding party at all—there's no right answer.

Choose your people. The ones you can't imagine the day without.

What happens when a wedding coordinator becomes so much more?

When Naomi & Peter first reached out, they were looking for a Wedding Day Coordinator—someone to help bring all the moving pieces together so they could truly enjoy their day.

As the months went by, our relationship naturally grew beyond timelines and logistics.

Together, we talked through the little details, refined their vision, and before long, I found myself helping with décor and styling as well. It became so much more than coordinating a wedding—it became about creating a celebration that felt completely them.

Swipe through these photos and you'll see the result of months of thoughtful planning, collaboration, and so much heart.

After the wedding, Naomi sent us a message that I'll never forget.
One sentence has stayed with me ever since:

"I will always remember how hesitant I was to hire you, and how quickly that turned into the absolute best wedding decision I ended up making."

Those words mean more than she'll ever know.

Naomi & Peter, thank you for trusting Anthony and me, welcoming us into your journey, and allowing us to be part of such an important chapter in your lives. Watching your vision come to life was an absolute privilege.

Congratulations again—we wish you both a lifetime of love, laughter, and beautiful adventures together. 🥂🤍

It's never too late to share a beautiful love story. 🤍

These photos from Tanna & John's wedding finally landed in our inbox, and I couldn't let the moment pass without sharing them.

Looking back at their day brought back so many wonderful memories—and seeing Tanna again this wedding season made it feel like everything had come full circle.

Congratulations again, Tanna & John.
Thank you for letting us be a small part of such an important chapter in your lives.

Wishing you both all the happiness in the world. ✨

One of the biggest mistakes I see when creating a wedding-day timeline?

Not leaving enough breathing room....

It’s tempting to schedule every part of your wedding day down to the minute—but a beautiful timeline isn’t one that simply looks perfect on paper.

It’s one that allows your day to actually feel good.

Hair and makeup may take a little longer. Getting everyone together for photos takes time. Dresses need bustling. People need bathroom breaks. And sometimes, you simply need five quiet minutes to take it all in.

That’s why I always believe in building intentional buffer time into a wedding-day timeline.

Because those extra minutes can be the difference between rushing from one moment to the next…
and actually being present for them. 🤍

A wedding day should have a timeline—but it should also have room to breathe.

Some wedding days just have a feeling you never forget. 🤍

Maria & Connor’s beautiful summer wedding at Wheatfield Estate was definitely one for the books.

From their ceremony surrounded by the natural beauty of the property to a celebration filled with so much laughter, personality, and love, their day felt completely them.

And those golden fields and sunset views? The perfect backdrop to an already beautiful day.

It was such a privilege to be part of bringing everything together and watching these two simply enjoy the celebration they had been looking forward to.

Maria & Connor, it’s so lovely looking back on your day and all these beautiful memories. 🤍

Every business has a beginning—and this was ours. 🤍

This beautiful wedding holds such a special place in my heart because it was the very first wedding Sage & Satin Events had the honour of planning and coordinating.

From our very first meeting to the final dance, I had the privilege of helping bring this couple's vision to life.

Looking back now, it's incredible to see how much has changed over the years.

Every couple, every celebration, and every lesson has helped shape Sage & Satin into the business it is today.

What began as a dream has grown into something even more meaningful—a husband-and-wife team dedicated to creating calm, beautifully organized wedding days where couples can simply be present and soak in every moment.

Anthony and I are so grateful to every couple who has trusted us over the years.

Here's to where it all began... and to all the beautiful weddings still to come. 🤍

Every wedding has its own story, and Naomi & Peter's was filled with so much heart, love, and intention. 🤍

From our very first conversation, I knew this celebration was going to be something incredibly special. Every detail was planned with so much care, and it was such an honour to help bring their vision to life.

From months of planning together to the final touches on their wedding day, it was a true privilege to be part of every step of their journey.

Watching them see their reception for the very first time, celebrate alongside their family and friends, and experience every moment they had dreamed of made this a wedding I'll never forget.

To Naomi & Peter—thank you for trusting Anthony and me with one of the most important days of your lives. It was truly a privilege to stand beside you behind the scenes, so you could simply be present and soak in every meaningful moment.

Wishing you both a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and beautiful adventures together. ❤️
