Behind every wedding day is a team.

This past weekend reminded me just how grateful I am to have my husband, Anthony, by my side.

While I'm often the one answering emails, building timelines, coordinating vendors, and keeping the day moving, Anthony is the steady presence
working quietly behind the scenes. From moving décor and repurposing ceremony pieces, to checking in with the groomsmen, helping vendors, resetting spaces, and tackling the countless little tasks that pop up throughout the day, he's always there.

What started as "helping me out" has become such an important part of Sage & Satin Events.
Our couples may see me leading the day, but there's always a whole lot happening behind the scenes, and Anthony is a huge part of making it all happen.

After another successful wedding weekend, I'm feeling especially thankful for my partner in life and in business.

We truly are better together. 💕

Unfortunately, the original stylist had to cancel due to a family bereavement. 💔

One of the most challenging parts of wedding planning?

The seating chart!

Most couples can't finalize their seating arrangements until RSVP responses have been received. And when guests don't respond by the deadline, it often means chasing down answers, making last-minute adjustments, and reworking table assignments multiple times.

A simple RSVP may seem like a small task, but it plays a big role in helping couples finalize guest counts, seating plans, meal selections, and venue details.

Whether your answer is "yes" or "no," responding by the requested date is one of the kindest things you can do for the couple.

Trust me — creating the seating chart is hard enough already! 😅

A conversation I had earlier really got me reflecting...😘

As many of you know, I recently had the privilege of experiencing wedding planning from a completely different perspective, as the mother of the bride.

Over the past year, I've helped couples navigate timelines, vendors, budgets, and all the moving pieces that come with planning a wedding. But walking alongside my own daughter as she planned hers gave me a whole new appreciation for what couples are carrying throughout the process.

It's not just about choosing flowers, finding the perfect dress, or creating a beautiful day. Behind the scenes, there are decisions, emotions, family dynamics, expectations, logistics, budgets, and moments of uncertainty that can feel overwhelming at times.

As a planner, I've always understood that weddings can be stressful. But as a mom, I felt it differently.

I watched my daughter navigate the excitement, the pressure, and the countless decisions that happen long before anyone walks down the aisle. And honestly, it has made me a better planner.

It's given me a deeper understanding of what my couples need, not just someone to organize timelines and coordinate vendors, but someone who can offer reassurance, guidance, and support throughout the journey.

As I approach the anniversary of the very first wedding I coordinated, I'm feeling incredibly grateful. Looking back at where this journey started, and everything I've learned along the way, reminds me exactly why I love what I do.

Wedding planning isn't just about creating a beautiful day. It's about helping couples enjoy the journey getting there.

Hi, I’m Sonia! The face behind Sage & Satin Events

For all my new followers, I thought it was time for a little reintroduction.

By day, I work full-time as a medical administrative professional, and I’ve been part of the healthcare world for over 20 years. Throughout my career, one thing has always stayed true about me, I genuinely love helping people.

Funny enough, my passion for weddings actually started long before social media. Over 20 years ago, I completed a wedding planning course simply because I loved the idea of bringing people together for such meaningful moments in life.

Over time, I realized my true passion isn’t just timelines and logistics (although I definitely love those too 😉). It’s helping create a calm, organized environment where couples and their families can truly be present and enjoy the day they’ve spent so much time planning.

I love being the person behind the scenes helping everything flow smoothly, coordinating vendors, managing timelines, calming nerves, solving problems quietly, and making sure everyone feels supported throughout the day.

To me, weddings are about so much more than one single day. They’re about family, connection, love, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
