We're all out here calling it day-of coordination, month-of coordination, wedding management, or some other fun title.

And because of that....a lot of people mistakenly believe it's just the hours on the wedding day that we are putting our time and energy into your event but here's what's actually happening behind the scenes:

- Emails with you, your vendors, our team, our vendor partners and more
- Phone calls with every single vendor and reviewing timelines, services provided and anything the need from us
- Sourcing materials and vendors for you
- Checking in with vendors leading up to and throughout your wedding day
- Mapping our locations and travel times
- Writing timelines, to do lists, and more to help keep it all organized and uo to date
- Checking off our part of the to-do lists and sending out reminders to others
- Printing out visual timelines for your family & wedding party
- Checking in with you to keep you as stressfree as possible
- Creating new resources for clients based on the questions that are asked
-Stocking and organizing our Emergency Kits
- Picking up or pulling out decor pieces
- Cleaning decor pieces (if owned by us)
- Setting up decor pieces (final touches or an add on to bring a team for setup/tear down)
- Tearing down decor pieces
- Re-cleaning pieces (again, if ours)
- Putting them away and organizing them into storage or returning them to the vendors
- Restocking our Emergency kits
And so much more

We might call it coordination but there's so much more that comes with the peace of mind of knowing someone's there and understands your day so that you can just enjoy it.

There is nothing so exciting as receiving a fantastic review from a couple that we enjoyed working with so much.

Allana and Don were absolutely lovely to work with throughout the entire process but especially on their wedding day when the weather had a few surprises in store for us.

These lovely souls were happy to just roll with it in whatever way the vendors could make possible.
They made it a fun day for every single person, whether a guest or a vendor, and we so appreciate them and their kind words.

If you're ever curious to hear more about what couples that have worked with us have to say, you can always hop on over to Google and search us up.
You'll find 103 (and counting) reviews from full planning to month-of coordination, studio rentals to elopements, and more.
Don't take our word for it. Take the words of happy couples.

This group of humans right here....I can't say enough good things.

I have thought of so many ways I could approach this post. I could come from a simple place of gratitude obviously (which we definitely feel). We could share astonished "wow that totally happened" vibes. Or lastly, point at this photo and story and say "this! This is why we always harp on paying the extra for quality vendors".

So which approach did we choose? A little bit of them all TBH.

Last weekend, our team had a few of firsts.

Our first crazy wacky inflatable guy at a wedding day.
Our first downpour that requires our team to shield every tray/plate of dinner and desert with massive umbrellas to keep dinner rocking in the tent.

But here are the things that stood out...

1) All the vendors were completely team bride and groom.
They communicated, they brainstormed, they collaborated and they helped each other.
At no time did anyone say "thats not my job". We just made things happen foe our couple and their guests.

2) We changed the plan, and changed it again based on the weather and the priorities of our couple.
It's so much easier to insist on sticking to the plan, or saying well we didn't have a contingency for this.
Instead we chatted, we tweaked the plan, and tweaked it again.

3) We smiled, we laughed, and we treated each other with kindness.
The coordinators moved chairs with the setup team and shielded meals from the rain for the caterers.
The photographer captured great moments and adapted timelines all over the place.
The caterers alerted the photographer and coordinators of the INSANE rainbows.
..and so much more I could NEVER put into one post.

We are so grateful for our couple, Allana & Don, along with the vendor teams of Elsie Perrin Williams Estate, Culinary Catering Service, Photos By Natasha, DJ Focus, and of course our Unmistakably You team.

You are all amazing!

If you take only one thing from this..(or two)
* pay for quality vendors with experience in their field
* ask vendors about how they work with other vendors to understand their collaboration style

Over the weekend we had the pleasure of hosting Michelle and Mike to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a special day surrounded by people who mean the most to them.

We started planning this special event over a year ago now so seeing it come together and watching the joy on the faces of not only our bride and groom but also all of their guests was an absolute treat!

Thank you to everyone who was part of making this beautiful day come together.

So many people seem to think that working wedding days is such a glamorous job as a planner or coordinator.

That we work just that one day a week for our couples.

There's so much more that happens behind the scenes with and without our clients.

Even on a wedding day we might start looking glamorous but by the end we are hot, sweaty, but still smiling messes.

Do we work our butts off? You better believe it.

Do we love it? More than anything!

Even the most experienced wedding planner cannot plan for every single possible situation we knew the weather was predicting rain what we never could have predicted was this rainbow no matter what Amy Says

Yesterday was an adventure of a wedding day with a fantastic couple and some absolutely epic vendors. It became the perfect example of why quality vendors with a collaborative mindset when the day every single time not for themselves but for their couples in the experience of every guest there.

Keep an eye out later tonight for the story of why our vendors were just so epic and what true collaboration really looks like on a wedding day.

Over the weekend we had the pleasure of celebrating with Gabe and Odessa as they said I do and created a new legacy as the Hemlocke family.

From heartfelt moments to little giggles and touches of personality, like a rolling for initiative to decide who would say their personal vows first.

It was a beautiful day with love, with laughter and a few happy tears.

Thank you so much for celebrating with us in the unmistakably used studio. It was a pleasure to be part of your day.

Quick Wedding Planning Reminder...You are planning for a marriage that last, not just the day you say I do.

A couple of our fav ways to keep the connection strong through the long list of meetings, decisions and to dos in the planning...

- regular date nights (no planning talk allowed)
- make time for little moments to press pause on everything else and just be together (take a walk, curl up for a fav show, or even just a couple mins looking into each others eyes/holding hands/hugging)
- plan for moments together leading up to and throughout the wedding day (my fav is the one arm length rule - at no point after the ceremony should you be more than an arm length apart. The day is after all about you and your connection)

At Unmistakably You, we are lucky enough to have some absolutely amazing clients.

On the flip side, we see so often in Facebook groups and online chats brides who are looking for a "reasonably priced" vendor or they're saying they don't want to spend "an arm and a leg" on a vendor for their wedding day.

We get it, budgets matter and you absolutely have to work within yours But there also seems to be this idea that if you're paying a photographer $1,600 for 8 hours, they're getting paid $200 an hour to click a button and there's no work before or after that. Or that when you're paying a wedding coordinator , the hours on the wedding day and the things you see them do are all you're paying for when there's so much more happening before, during, and after to support you on your wedding day like meetings, emails, timeline building, vendor touchpoints and more.

After almost 17 years in the industry this is one of those things that just grinds our gears a little bit because there's so much more going on than just the hours you see that vendor on your day. So as you are looking at your vendors, planning your budgets, and prioritizing which vendors matter the most to you, keep in mind the time that happens behind the scenes so that they can show up for you in the ways that you see on the day.

A marriage (any relationship really) is a conversation.
It's communication over and over through more than just words.

Like anything we truly love and find joy in, no matter how long it is, it always feels too short.

May your love be a lifelong conversation.
