From award-winning children’s books and comic covers to Transformers and Star Wars, two incredible artists are returning to Island FanCon.
brings more than 25 years of professional experience across comic covers, sequential art, fan art, and award-winning children’s books. Hugh is the illustrator behind Alberta’s 2021 Children’s Book of the Year, “Howdy, I’m John Ware”, winner of the Heritage Award, as well as 2023 Children’s Book of the Year, “Howdy, I’m Flores Ladue”. His cover work has appeared with publishers including IDW, Image Comics, Dynamite, Archie Horror, Ablaze, AfterShock, and more across North America and Europe.
Joining him is Marvin Mariano, whose work spans some of the biggest brands in pop culture, including Transformers, G.I. Joe, Barbie, and Star Wars, with clients ranging from Hasbro and Marvel to DC Comics, Lucasfilm, DreamWorks, Dark Horse, and more. His work includes animation, packaging design, concept art, and comics, including Transformers: Beast Machines, Transformers Armada, and G.I. Joe: Spy Troops. Outside the comic world, Marvin is also a professional tattoo artist specializing in realism, portraits, cover-ups, and custom work.
