Happy International Cat Day 🐈🐾

You didn't think we'd miss did you?

Cats have been a central symbol since MoonCat's small beginning, but it extends beyond that!

I (Kat) have adored painting cats since I first picked up my face painting brush. Whether it was a tiger, an orange tabby, or even a uni-kitty, cats are one of my favourite designs to paint.

I have also had an affinity to cats since I was a little girl! So when it came time to name my business, I knew there was no better way than to combine my love of the celestial and cats, to honour the connection I have to them!

The cat sitting on the moon has quickly become my symbol and I love the joy that all my cat related things bring to so many! And behind the scenes... I have some very special administrative assistants who help me keep track of stock & even help me write captions sometimes (scroll to see who 👀).

To all the cats that bring so much joy to the hearts of many, to everyone who shares the love of cat face paints, and to those that support my little cat-named business- Happy International Cat Day! Go out and snuggle a fuzzy little friend or come see me to get your very own cat face paint 🖌

Today is International Day of Friendship 🩵

MoonCat wouldn't exist if it wasn't for friendship and the amazing friends in my life. Even when I was simply just an independent contractor and MoonCat Body Art was a dream that was very much out of reach, I was surrounded by some incredible people who supported me.

Social media shows you the good, the fun days, the better days, it doesn't show the boring admin days, the prep days, the days where you feel like your dreams are failures. I have plenty of those days! But in the darkest of the days, friends have a magical way of bringing a light into your life to reveal some of the heaviness.

To my dearest friend Candibar Body Art for always encouraging me and my art, you were one of MoonCat's first big supporters and continue to help nurture this dream of mine.

To for being the biggest & best hype woman you could ever ask for! She has seen me through this face paint journey from the very beginning.

To BeeWitched, not only a huge inspiration but the kindest, most supportive soul you'll ever meet! Their support has carried us through some of those heavier days.

To my new friend .amber amber (pictured laughing in the back of the photo), crazy to think we only met a few months ago! It's been an honour to watch you grow as an artist and both of us getting to experience new things for our businesses and journeys together!

To .elements, your constant support and reminders that my art, makes me an artist is something I hold so close to my heart! Your support has been unwavering since our paths crossed and I truly can't express my gratitude enough!

Fantasy In The Forest Art Show is truly one of my favourite events year, after year. Whether I am just a guest or I get to help add to the magic of the event as a face painter, it's truly a the best weekend(s) of the year.

It also pushes me creatively as each year I try to design a new creature to challenge myself creatively. I've been dreaming of making this mushroom witch hat that I have been envisioning to wear at the show, for almost two years, and I finally finished it this past week.

A special part of this costume for me is that the fabric inside of the hat is fabric that my late grandmother gave to me. I have had it in my fabric pile for two years and never knew what to do with it (no project ever felt "right"). But this one did, she would have loved Fantasy in the Forest and all the magic in it. But I know, most importantly, she would be so proud of me and the amount of work I put into making this costume.

Thank you to everyone who stopped to compliment my outfit (especially the two vendors who adored my hat!! you two were the sweetest), asked for pictures, who my partner & I got to chat with as we waited for the shuttle, and to all the smiles I saw when people noticed my costume- it really lifted my spirits. I am glad that my dreams of dressing up as fantasy characters can add a bit of magic to people's day!

A special thank you to everyone who makes this show possible from all the behind the scenes work to the people helping with parking to the shuttle drivers and everyone who makes the event so magical. I adore Fantasy in the Forest so much, it truly is my favourite event every year. While I am saddened I wasn't able to participate as a vendor this year, I am grateful to still attend and get to support my friends & meet so many amazing people 💙

My heart & soul are so full, see you all in September!! 🍁🍄

, what an experience you were!

This was the first time I was a workshop host/guest at a convention like this and it was such an honour to get to teach fellow cosplayers & makeup enthusiasts my tips & tricks for body painting and keeping your makeup lasting all day!

I got to meet some incredible cosplayers, artists, and fellow game enthusiasts- plus many more people were added to the Lamb's cult 🐑

The Lamb is one of my favourite cosplays to wear as it was one of my first really big builds using a variety of techniques and tricks! It brings me so much joy when others recognize the costume and we get to gab about such an incredible game!

Thank you to for having me, to Megan & Neel for their kindness and support, to everyone who came to my workshop, to my friends , , .cos, .amber, & (and so many more) for supporting me and these endeavours, and to all my new friends that I met! My heart is so full 💙

Step into an enchanted forest, full of whimsy, magic, and community 🌳✨

MoonCat Body Art is so grateful to be part of 's Q***r Prom this year! On June 20th from 7 PM - 10 PM the community is invited to the Enchanted Forest Elegance Q***r Prom happening at Ambassador Event Centre Ball Room!

Hosted by TransFamily Kingston, Q***r Prom is as a fundraising event to support their year round programming for our local gender diverse community.

I'll be there offering face painting & body art services; festival glitter; enchanted forest themed tattoos; and our "fantasy bling" to help you transform into whimsical forest creatures!

The event also features catering; drag performances; art market featuring local gender diverse artists; makeup & nail services; hair styling services; raffles & door prizes, and so much more!

A portion of proceeds from my services that night will be donated to TransFamily Kingston to help them continue the incredible work they do for our community.
