The Kitchen at the Grist Mill is one of amenities available at the Grist Mill and Gardens Historic Site and serves up delicious soups, salads, sandwiches and other comfort foods inspired by the spectacular bounty and history of the Similkameen Valley. We use many fruits, veggies and herbs grown on the site as part of our project to research, preserve and share unusual or rare heritage varieties. O

ur kitchen is open for lunch daily from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving and serves Sunday Brunch in the fall and spring.

We've been absolutely blown away by the popularity of our Sunday Dinners so far this year. Both our Braised Lamb Shank and 2 Hour Beef Brisket dinners have been sell-outs, and this coming weekend's Roasted Pork Belly isn't far behind! (So, if you want to bring dad for Father's Day, make sure you get your ticket right away...)

We’re grateful for the chance to share these delicious meals with you—last weekend's dinner featured tender beef brisket, roasted potatoes, grilled asparagus and garlic scapes, green salad, and a lovely cake topped with fresh strawberries. Although a little warm, the weather was otherwise perfect!

One of our favourite aspects of these dinners is their spontaneity. While we always know the main protein in advance, the rest of the menu is shaped by what’s seasonal and available that day—often sourced from our own gardens, nearby fruit stands, and generous neighbours.

When we began hosting these dinners, it was in response to the often high-priced and formal culinary events that dominate the region. But what’s grown out of that simple idea has become something truly meaningful: a cherished community gathering, a valuable fundraiser for our heritage site, and a deeply enjoyable way to share food and stories.

We’re constantly amazed by the support these dinners have received—from our loyal regulars to the many new faces we meet each week.

You can check out the list of all our dinners and get your tickets to your favourites at https://www.oldgristmill.ca/dinners. We'd love to have you join us!

Thank you ALL who attended our Mother's Day Tea and were patient with us. With our leader being ill we ran into a few snafus but got through it. The weather and company couldn't have been better.

Thank you and HAPPY MOTHERS DAY.

It's time to start planning your Similkameen Summer!

This summer, we're excited to offer TWENTY different long table dinners in our garden, with a ton of great new options! Very affordable, at only $35/person, these seasonal Sunday dinners have become an exceptionally popular way to enjoy the bounty of the Similkameen Valley.

Pair it with a weekend of camping, and maybe a concert, night market or other weekend event (as well as lots of Similkameen exploring), and you've got a pretty special weekend. To see our dinner schedule and book tickets for one of our most popular entrees (like the beef brisket!) while you can, check out our website at https://www.oldgristmill.ca/dinners/.
