was doing some boring backend work today and came across the fact that 85% of my clients are word-of-mouth referrals. Out of that number, 60% come from past clients or their friends and family, and the remaining 40% come from my incredible vendor friends.

I think that’s a true testimony to what we do over here at Wild Bloem Studios. We are obsessed with white-glove service and creating an experience where our couples feel completely taken care of from the moment they inquire to the moment the last candle is blown out at the end of the night.

When past clients trust us enough to recommend us to the people they love, and when talented vendors choose to send their couples our way, it means everything. Those referrals don’t happen by accident. They come from showing up, caring deeply, and treating every wedding like it matters just as much as it does to the couple.

Hayley and Marcus had one of the most logistically wild weddings of my entire career, and it’s one I’ll never forget.

They were full service clients, so we handled planning, logistics, decor, stationery, and florals. They were married in their hometown in Labrador where there are no rental companies, so we packed up and brought absolutely everything with us.

What should have been a straightforward drive turned into chaos fast. A sudden highway closure through Quebec rerouted our entire trip. One ferry became two, plus a long detour through Nova Scotia. Hotels were cancelled and rebooked across provinces. We couldn’t get a cabin on the overnight ferry, so we slept on the floor.

Then the next ferry was delayed because the passage froze over. Two full days behind schedule.

The closest the flowers could be delivered was Newfoundland. A friend picked them up and drove them to Labrador, but their trip was delayed too. The flowers arrived the afternoon before the wedding after days without water and a freezing ferry ride, and I stayed up all night making every bouquet and arrangement.

The only church in their town cancelled the week of the wedding, so we pivoted. Their ceremony took place in a provincial park parking lot overlooking the ocean and literal icebergs.

It was May in Labrador. It was freezing. They did it anyway.

My favourite part was the way their community showed up. People graded the parking lot, ironed linens, and stepped in wherever they were needed to make this day happen.

8.5 days travelling
5 provinces
3 time zones
4 ferry rides
1 night sleeping on the ferry floor

This wedding reminded me that sometimes the most beautiful days come together in the messiest, most unexpected ways. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

They also have the Trillium Room, which is perfect for an intimate rehearsal dinner, plus other event spaces if you’re planning something a bit bigger.

Your hotel block isn’t just a place to sleep. It becomes the hub for the weekend. And this is one of those choices that quietly makes everything easier.

I had a really good chat with clients this week who realized their wedding wasn’t feeling like them anymore.

If you’re getting married in 2026, consider this your gentle permission slip to listen to your gut. Take a deep breath and write out a list of intentions for your day. What are your top three non-negotiables?

Once you have that list, build everything else around it.
