Our sweetest boy, Ralphie, had a tough week last week, but he is back to his busy, very hungry, and sassy self. When we got him to Creekside Animal Clinic in Vernon, our amazing piggy, goat, and sheep vet, his fever was 105.8 (normal for a pig is 101-103), and he was very sick. He had large, dense hives everywhere, hard to see but easy to feel, no appetite, and a weird sneeze when he stood up, would only get up by forcing him, and diarrhea.
We still have no idea what caused it, as he is in his same pen during the day and in the house at night and in the high heat, but he was treated for allergies, a bacterial infection and the pain. His medication regimen was intense, but easy to administer at first. As he started to feel better, his daily injection (right behind the ear, to avoid his thick layer of fat), became more and more difficult and more and more of a protest, which was WONDERFUL, as it meant he was getting back to his sassy self 🥰 His other medications were easy peasy -- either hiding them in a popsicle or a banana, he'd gobble it up 😂
Thank you so much for all the kind words and well wishes sent Ralphie's way. He is a special guy 🐷❤️
