Alright... public opinion request!

I grew Sunfill Purple Sunflowers from Johnnys Seeds this year - I personally think they look really unique and could add some different texture to bouquets BUT every time I tried to add one to an arrangement, I was not really happy on how it looked. I think I was too concerned that someone would think I simply harvested a sunflower at the wrong time instead of a new variety! That meant I had a lot of seed heads to collect. Now, do you think they are worth growing to try again in arrangements? Or should these seed heads go straight to the chickens 🐔 🤔

Dahlias - the love of my life in 2024 and the bane of my existence in 2025. The new location has been rough on the dahlias - not quite as much sun, more inconsistent watering, less space, and WAY more pests. We tested the dahlias in 3 different locations this year and none have proven to be ideal - almost to the point where I planned on throwing all of my tubers in the compost at the end of this season. I still plan on throwing about 90% in the compost, but then the occasional beauty like this one appears and for a fleeting moment I am in love with the dahlias again (until I realize I missed the timing on this one and while it's pretty to look at in the garden, it is no longer ideal for an arrangement 😅).

Our glass greenhouse is essentially complete 🤩 Made from mostly reclaimed items with a lot of hard work by my parents, we have a brand new growing space for next year!

This space will be first used to grow our winter forced tulips (let us know if you are looking for locally grown Valentines flowers!) and then be our main seedling area. With this space, we are going to be able to grow a lot more seedlings and get them a lot bigger earlier! We will be selling a LOT more seedlings come spring, so keep us in mind as you start to plan your own 2026 gardens.

Our second succession planting in this raised bed is coming along swimmingly 🤗

Originally, we had peas and ranunculus, which are cool weather crops, and now we have Mrs Burns Lemon Basil! This citrusy basil is amazing for cooking but also a beautiful green and heavily scented bouquet filler 🥰🥰
