Consider this your friendly reminder before your next wedding invitation lands in your inbox.

Being a good wedding guest really is pretty simple: RSVP on time, respect the couple’s wishes, celebrate with them, & don’t make the day about you.

There are so many things happening behind the scenes that guests never see. Seating charts, catering numbers, rentals, timelines, photography, transportation, vendor schedules… a lot of little details go into making a wedding day run smoothly.

So when the couple asks you to RSVP by a certain date, keep the ceremony unplugged, follow the seating chart, or skip the white outfit, they’re not trying to ruin your fun.

They’re trying to make sure the day they spent months planning goes the way they envisioned it.

Show up. Celebrate. Follow the couple’s lead. And let them enjoy their day 🤍

Some things are technically possible… but that doesn’t mean you should do them 😉

Could you plan your entire wedding yourself? Absolutely.

But there’s a difference between being capable of planning a wedding and actually wanting to manage every single moving piece that comes with one.

Vendor communication. Timelines. Setup. Rentals. Design decisions. Last-minute changes. Making sure everyone knows where they need to be and when. Figuring out what happens when something inevitably doesn’t go according to plan.

You can absolutely take all of that on yourself.

Or you can hand some of it over to someone who does this for a living and actually wants to deal with the details 🤍

Unfortunately, being a detailaholic is encouraged when you’re a wedding planner.

The tiny details are usually the things that make me stop and take a second look.

The place settings. The little touches on the tables. The way everything is layered together. The details that you might not notice individually, but that somehow make the whole wedding feel more intentional.

And yes, I will absolutely notice if something is slightly out of place 😂

Your venue is one of the biggest decisions you’ll make, so don’t just fall in love with the pretty spaces.

The venue you choose can affect your guest experience, your timeline, your vendor options, your budget, and even what happens if something doesn’t go according to plan.

That’s why I always recommend asking the less glamorous questions before you sign anything.

What’s actually included? Who will be there on the wedding day? What happens if the weather changes? Can you bring in your own vendors? What happens if wildfire smoke affects your outdoor plans?

These might not be the questions you’re asking while touring a beautiful venue for the first time, but they’re the ones you’ll be very glad you asked later.

A beautiful venue is great. A venue that works for your wedding is even better.

One of my biggest wedding design pet peeves? Adding more just because you can.

A tablescape doesn’t need to be overflowing with details to feel beautiful. In fact, some of my favourite tables are the ones where every element has a purpose and nothing feels like it’s trying too hard.

Guest comfort, proportion, colour, texture, lighting. These are the details that make a table feel thoughtfully designed.

And there’s a big difference between a table that looks pretty in a photo and a table that actually works for the people sitting at it. Your guests should be able to comfortably talk, see each other, eat, and enjoy the evening without having to navigate an obstacle course of decor.

Beautiful doesn’t mean more. It means intentional.

Every once in a while, you have to find out how your husband actually sees you. So of course I had to hop on this trend 😂

I think the answers say a lot about me… although I may need him to elaborate on a few of them.

I’m not entirely sure what “sunshine, rain, hail, sunshine” says about me, but I feel like that one probably deserves a follow-up conversation...

At least he got the important things right: fall, being overly prepared, & GF pizza.

After nearly 100 weddings, I’ve learned that “anything can happen” is less of a saying and more of a job description.

I’ve seen the timelines go sideways, the weather change its mind, the unexpected emergencies, the family and vendor drama, the things no one could have possibly planned for… and somehow, we still make the magic happen.

So of course, I’m preparing for the Netflix documentary about everything I’ve seen.
Because let me tell you, we have got the teaaaa. Specifically the spicy chai tea.

It’s always incredibly satisfying seeing a space completely transform on a wedding day. What starts as an empty room or blank outdoor space slowly becomes a reflection of the couple, their style, and all the little details they’ve spent months dreaming about.

If there’s one thing I’m taking away from all of your responses, it’s this: make the wedding yours.

Don’t plan it around what your family thinks you should do. Don’t feel like you have to handle every single thing yourself. And don’t be afraid to get specific about what you want from your vendors.

Your wedding is such a personal day, and there’s no one “right” way to do it.

So take the advice that resonates, leave what doesn’t, and remember that you’re allowed to create a wedding that feels like you 🤍
