September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. Today is a day for honouring the more than 150,000 Indigenous children who were sent to residential schools. They were deprived of their languages, families, communities and culture. Thousands of children died, and those who returned home would never be the same. Today day is about honouring Survivors and their communities, remembering the children who never came home, and standing together in truth. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation asks us to acknowledge the past and move forward together on the path of healing and unity. Every child matters.
