Missing my home boy this week while he’s in Toronto learning new skills Humber Lakeshore

That one year where we didn’t work together honestly sucked! I know it’s not for everyone, working with their spouse, but for me it’s the only way I want to work.

We’re busy advancing our credentials in the funeral sector and asking a lot of our old tired brains and schedules but it’s exciting to imagine what life might look like after graduation.

Haven’t made a bridal bouquet in almost a year, today I made two. So nice to be at home with flowers while Elphi napped and Harry worked in the garden. It was like revisiting our old life… if only for a few hours. ☺️✂️💐

Happy Anniversary to us! I had to snap this picture at work because I realized we haven’t had a couple photo in a while. My phone is filled with pictures of us with our babies, with flowers, with food… living life. I wouldn’t want it any other way. Choosing you was the easiest and smartest decision. I love you Harry, thanks for being you every day. You’re smart and kind and gentle and brave. I am so excited to start our next adventure with both of us going back to Humber next month for funeral services. I couldn’t have imagined that we would find ourselves working side by side again, doing something we love, but here we are.
Here’s to many more adventures and anniversaries my beautiful husband. ❤️

We are so thrilled to have been invited back the AGH for another mindful and reflective floral design workshop on August 16th at 12pm

This workshop will feature local in season blooms from local growers including dahlia, rudbeckia celosia and others.

No experience required, just a love of flowers and art. Materials included 🖌️

Inspired by the themes of local production, community, and craftsmanship explored in Made in Hamilton, this floral design workshop celebrates the beauty of materials grown close to home. Using locally sourced flowers and foliage, participants will create a small compote-style arrangement while exploring the connections between place, creativity, and the things we make by hand.

The AGH encourages attendees to arrive 30-60 minutes in advance of the workshop to peruse the exhibition. The workshop will behin with a guided meditation and facilitated reflection on what it means to grow, create, and belong within a community. Participants will then be guided through the floral design process, transforming seasonal blooms into a unique arrangement that reflects both personal expression and the richness of Hamilton’s local landscape.

We are excited to announce that we will be offering grab-and-go bouquets on Friday May 8th in Dundas. 💐

A beautiful bouquet of fresh and local blooms hand tied and gift wrapped will surely bring a smile.

Reserve a bouquet by calling Circle of Life or by sending or a message or just pop by and try your luck!

All bouquets are $40 including HST and we will take all forms of payment when you pickup.

All bouquets will be made by Kate, the owner of Sticks and Stones Floral and the in-house floral designer at Circle of Life

Hello! Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Kate and I have been flowering for a long time. I have had a couple of brick and mortar shops, a few studios, a few business names over the years but there hasn’t been a year in that time that I didn’t have a pair of snips in my hand professionally.

These days I spend a lot of my time with families at my new day job. I am the events coordinator at Circle of Life in Dundas. Circle of Life is a modern funeral home that prides itself on creating a warm and comforting atmosphere for anyone who has experienced a loss. We are an almost all female team, except for our Harry and
I am in training as a Funeral Director’s Assistant and will be getting my cremation directors licence from Humber this year! 🤗

This role feels very natural for me. Grief and loss have been close feelings for me as a chronically ill person and it’s not my first experience working funerals either. Our logo is a vulture because life and death are part of each other and Harry and I have always cherished that reality.

A new addition to my role that I’m really excited about is FLOWERS (of course). I have put in a cooler at work and I am now the in house designer for our celebrations and services.

What does this mean for Sticks and Stones? Well I’m pretty busy but I am still open for wedding and special event florals. The website is up and you can inquire there, through email or by shooting me a dm.

This also means that you’ll be seeing more content here with some of the work I’m doing at COL.
