Our team has been hard at work in June! We often get asked on introductory calls or during the planning process “ is ___ something that you do?” and the answer is… Probably!

We don’t have a concrete list of the types of things that we do because the real answer is that every wedding is so unique, and one might need a lot of support in one area while another needs completely different support, so we always encourage you to just ask :)

Transferring items from your ceremony to your reception, ensuring your furry friend is ready to walk down the aisle with you, lighting your candles or plugging in your coffee urn or just a few examples of the little tasks that we do to help your day run smoothly!

Timeline creation support- what is it?

This is a service where we help you build your wedding weekend timeline, with everything from vendor arrivals, VIP guest details, to what the wedding party is eating in the morning of.

This is exactly the same type of meeting that we have with our day of coordination clients, but without the coordination.

The service might be for you if:

A day of coordinator is out of your budget

A close friend or family member is willing to act in that role, but doesn’t know how to start

We are already booked on your wedding day, but you really want to work with us in some capacity

Well, this is exciting! We were selected as the winner in our category for the Canadian Choice Awards ☺️ 🏆

This is a very broad category, and there are so many fantastic vendors that fit under Wedding Planners here in Halifax, so we are really honoured to have received this.

Day of coordination is a partnership between a couple getting married, and their coordinator who takes the reigns and make sure things go according to their plan, and we’re so grateful for the wonderful people we’ve gotten to work with over the past few years.

Part of the process for this award is nominations, and their committee also takes into account things like reviews left for our business, so we’re also very grateful for our nominator(s), and everyone who’s left reviews for us and celebrated what we do 🥰

All this to say, please keep telling your friends about us, please keep sharing, and please keep trusting us with your special days because we love what we do 🫶🏼

Thinking about booking with Otium for 2026 or 2027?

Our 2026 season is nearly full, so if you are getting married this year, do not wait to inquire. For June and September dates, please reach out as Tammi’s availability may still open up.

2027 bookings are officially open and inquiries are already coming in. I (Christine) have very limited availability in 2027, so early planning is key.

Using Funko Pops on your Wedding Cake

You might recognize these two from a previous post- did you know you can order custom Funko Pop figures of yourself? These can make great wedding cake toppers but I have some tips for keeping them upright after working with a few couples who have used them:

1. Ensure they have a large flat base- this Funko bride has a nice wide dress and the groom is placed on a clear circle base
2. Ensure the cake has a flat area for the figures- if the icing has a texture to it, it's harder to place the figures on top. Bonus points if there's a small platform for the figures on top of the cake
3. Place the figured once the cake is in it's final location- no moving the cake with the Funkos on top!
4. If possible, secure the figures with some icing under their base and some piping around them once they've been places
