Thank you to Erin Brohman from CBC for taking the time to visit our venue and for giving a voice to those in the venue industry and to our heartbroken clients.

We have been nothing but proactive to get our province to work with us. Licensed establishments are our province's hugest asset in monitoring events during COVID-19 yet we have been forced to operate at 8% capacity with only 50 people indoors. This has resulted in couples everywhere to hold their events on private property with larger gathering sizes leaving our establishments empty. We do not blame our clients for having to make these tough decisions and feel for them as this has caused them so much added stress. Many of these events have gone unmonitored which has created an elevated risk to the public however we have been lucky that cases remained low this summer and we haven't seen cases resulting from these events. Had there been an outbreak, it would have been us venues once again to take the hit. Now with the latest announcement, we need to make sure that we don't go into 2021under any of these ridiculous restrictions. We understand our province's need to do something however we have fantastic systems in place for the safety of our guests and haven't had so much as the privilege of a conversation with Manitoba Public Health. The province of Ontario values their venue industry and has worked with them and changed their gathering limits to encourage weddings to stay under the roofs of fully staffed venues where there is someone to oversee the event. Manitoba needs to follow suit but sadly it is too late to recoup our losses for 2020.

To say we are disappointed with all levels of our government right now is an understatement.

We would like to thank our couples for hanging in there as well as our friends in the community for their continued support.

Winnipeg and surrounding areas are under tighter pandemic restrictions as of Monday, causing stress for couples and extra strain on Manitoba's struggling wedding industry.

Just did a great interview with Erin Brohman from CBC! So happy to tell our story and have our voices heard. This industry has suffered immeasurable losses and we are so happy to finally gain the attention we have been working so hard for. We will post more details shortly.

So the restaurant and beverage sector of the hospitality industry get a "conversation" on what they can do to minimize the spread of COVID-19. Where is OUR conversation as a venue? We've been nothing but proactive with the Pallister government as well as Manitoba Public Health and have yet to be granted the privilege of a conversation.

We have been forced to operate at a mere 8% of our capacity with 50 person gatherings. Our hearts are heavy with this new announcement.

"Roussin said on Thursday that roughly half of Winnipeg's recent cases of the illness were in young people who were out at bars, pubs and restaurants during the time they contracted it. Officials also plan to talk to people in the restaurant industry β€” plus bars, beverage rooms, brew pubs, microbreweries and distilleries β€” about what steps they can take to lower the risk of spreading the illness."

Well...we have officially cancelled our makers market for November 7, 2020. While we know it is the right decision, we wanted so terribly to provide our makers with a place to sell their beautiful products and to top last year's donations for the Interlake Food Bank and the Manitoba Firefighters Burn Fund. We will look to 2021. Until then, thank you to the makers who chose to be a part of our market and to those who were looking forward to attending!

Manitoba Government With the opening of phase 4, I have to say I am incredibly disheartened by the lack of regard for our industry. I wish that these levels of government would listen to the voices of experienced professionals in our field. We should be able to operate with more than 13% capacity indoors. I want to say thank you though to for hearing our concerns when we were moving into phase 3. We have alot more work to do to keep the independent event businesses alive in our province! In some areas, they are releasing the brakes too fast however that is not the case for our venue and our peers in this line of work. With these group sizes, events are being pulled away from us where they should be staying under our roofs where we can do what we do best which is safely host a crowd.
