A little real talk from behind the scenes at Ruby’s.
If you’ve followed us for a while, you know we do things a little differently here. We do our best to keep our customers in the loop on what’s going on behind the scenes, upcoming changes, new ideas we’re trying, and the realities of running a small local business. We’ve never been ones to pretend everything is perfect or lean into toxic positivity. We believe in being real, transparent, and continuing to improve.
Over the last while, we’ve been listening to feedback and doing our best to evolve with what our customers have asked for. You wanted elevated Take & Heat meals, so we invested in creating them. You asked for later hours for those working until 5 pm, so we extended our Wednesdays & Thursdays until 6 pm.
We genuinely want to keep showing up in the highest way we can, offering high quality, scratch-made food, convenience, and options that help make life a little easier.
The reality is, though, that small business, especially in food & hospitality right now, is tough. Lately we’ve seen slower movement on our Take & Heat meals (requests come in but follow through hasn't), softer bookings for catering and charcuterie, and the later evening hours haven’t had the return we had hoped for.
As a small business, we can only continue expanding offerings and hours if they make sense operationally and there’s enough consistent support behind them.
With that said, we’re going to give our Wednesday & Thursday 6 pm closing another couple of weeks before deciding whether it makes sense to continue or move back to earlier hours. If the later hours are something you’d like to see continue, we simply need to see enough people making use of them to justify keeping them in place.
Whether it’s grabbing supper after work, stocking up on Take & Heat meals, snacks, appetizers, BBQ sides, charcuterie, breakfast, or placing an order for an upcoming gathering, we’d love to continue being your go-to.
We know there are lots of choices out there, and we truly don’t take your support for granted. Thank you for continuing to support local and allowing us to keep doing what we love.
