We are so excited to welcome Valdy to The King’s Playhouse stage this Sunday, September 14th for a 2:00pm matinee!

Folk Legend Valdy, born Paul Valdemar Horsdal, has been part of the fabric of Canadian pop and folk music for half a century. He is well known for “Play Me a Rock ‘n’ Roll Song” but has also delighted audiences everywhere performing classics such as “Peter & Lou”, “Yes I Can”, “Renaissance”, “Sonny’s Dream” and many more.

Valdy turns 80 in September and continues to entertain audiences from British Columbia to Newfoundland & Labrador and many points in between with frequent wintertime performances for Canadian Snowbirds south of the border.
Join Valdy in Summerside or Georgetown (OR BOTH!) on his “birthday tour” as you are sure to be some of the most entertained birthday party guests ever! Sing along with all of your favorite Valdy or memory lane tunes or just sit back and take it all in. Either way you’ll be glad that you came out to share in the festivities!

The King’s Playhouse is very excited to welcome Lawrence Maxwell to the King’s Ceilidh cast! Lawrence Maxwell cut his teeth on beer caps, rough waters, and country music. His latest album, Ballad of Miles was nominated for seven Music PEI Awards in 2023, and in 2024 he received the award for Music PEI’s ‘Entertainer of the Year’. His songs have received airplay on: Sirius XM’s ‘Top of the Country’, Country Hits Radio UK, and CBC ‘Q’. With its neo-traditional production, and comparisons to both John Prine and Merle Haggard, Roots Music Canada has dubbed the record “the first great Canadian alt-country album of 2022.” His music video for “Back to Cape Breton” was a finalist in the Canadian Independent Music Video Awards and his song “Better You” was selected in the Top 100 for CBC/Toyota Searchlight in 2022. As an ECMA award nominee and two-time Music P.E.I. award winner, this Prince Edward Island singer-songwriter will tell it to you like it’s folk, and sing it to you like it’s country!

We’re super excited to welcome Brooke MacArthur to the King’s Ceilidh cast! Brooke MacArthur, a rising singer-songwriter from Prince Edward Island, is making waves in Canadian country music. Celebrated for her soulful, emotive vocals and distinctive low register, Brooke’s heartfelt storytelling captivates audiences. Her two recent singles, including a feature on Lawrence Maxwell’s track, have earned significant radio play, including SiriusXM’s Top of the Country. She recently opened for Steven Lee Olsen on his Canadian Country Tour and will perform at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival this summer. Brooke’s latest single, “Bittersweet Surprise,” is available now on all streaming platforms!

We’re so excited to welcome Todd MacLean to the King’s Ceilidh cast! Todd MacLean is a wildcard multi-instrumentalist who enjoys the great pleasure of playing alongside many of the best musicians that comprise the vibrant PEI music scene. As a saxophonist, pianist and guitarist, he has performed and toured internationally, is a member of several successful music ensembles on the Island, is a multiple Music PEI Award and ECMA award winner, and he also teaches over 45 private music students per week and was named Music PEI’s Musician of the Year in 2011!
