One of the most interesting elements of our summer exhibition - The East of East Atlantic Canadian Hip Hop Archive - is the hundreds of concert posters lining the walls of the Penny Gallery and the stairways on the Charlotte Glencross Gallery. These elements serve to highlight the diverse nature hip hop culture, one that ties artists, venues, albums, and eras togethers spanning this music's 40 year history on Canada's East Coast.

A sample-size look at some of the artists and venues on the New Brunswick wall highlight many important figures in our province's music history like Pimp-Tea, Mickey D, Bonshah, Sean One, DJ STV, Phakt, Monark, Ceeb Dread, Socially Exceptable, and Kam Speech & Old Self, performing at venues like The Cap, Klub Khrome, The Cellar, Xeroz Arcade Bar, Eskasoni Culture Centre, the S.U.B. Ballroom, 212 George, the Sunstar Lounge, Aberdeen Cultural Centre, the Elks' Club, Crystal Palace (yes, THAT Crystal Palace!) and even the Kennebecasis Public Library.

The East of East Atlantic Canadian Hip Hop Archive is on display until September 20. Stop by Monday - Saturday to check it out!

Did you know we added a third pilates program to the fall season? Based on the extreme popularity of our Pilates & Movement for Seniors programs (which are both sold out), instructor Dr. Zsuzsanna Szabo-Nyarady has created a new program open to everyone: Restorative Pilates & Movement.

This gentle, yet challenging, low impact and fun class will offer exercises seated in a chair and standing. It is intended for adults starting out or returning to a movement class after a break and those who may have some mobility issues. Individuals who have difficulties with getting down and up from the floor are most welcome to join.

Based on the Pilates principles of breath, control, concentration and precision, participants will be guided to practice mindful movements that will promote spinal alignment, joint mobility, good posture, improved balance and strength. Learn to move with greater ease and confidence.

She sings and plays piano and guitar, and has been making music for years after attending music school in Ukraine as a child. She also picked up some bass guitar while attending Girls+ Rock Camp!

For Polly, Girls+ Rock Camp is the perfect opportunity to learn something new, meet people, and have lots of exciting experiences. She can’t wait to see everyone there!
