The Printed Matters Indie Press & Zine Fair is coming up on Saturday September 12 at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. This past Monday we were fortunate to host a garden party and luncheon for the Writing Our Lives Memoir Writing Group. This group is run by our dear friend Viviane Edwards and members meet bi-weekly in our Community Arts Room to talk, discuss their work, encourage one another, and occasionally eat cake! Always a pleasure to have them with us, outdoors or out.

We have been partnering with Solo Chicken Productions for so long now that sometimes we forget just how important this collaboration is. Our partnership primarily supports The Spirit Project, a group of artists with and without intellectual and/or physical disabilities, Autism and/or dual diagnosis who have been playing, creating, and performing together for the past seven years. This is important work. This is beautiful work. This is what Community looks like.

We encourage you all to join us this week for one of two performances of Good Way, a delightful variety show featuring original songs, choreography, visual art and poetry, plus some spirited cameo’s including knock knock jokes, Disney karaoke and So You Think You Can Dance level solo’s, all created and performed by members of this incredible program with direction and support from Kylie Fox, Sydney Hallett, Kaylee MacNeil and Lisa Anne Ross.

Performances:

June 10 | 2 p.m. | Charlotte Street Arts Centre
June 11 | 5 p.m. | Charlotte Street Arts Centre
Admission is Pay What You Wish.

This summer the Charlotte Street Arts Centre will host East of East, The Atlantic Canadian Hip Hop Archive. This exhibition features the largest collection of East Coast rap music and hip hop ephemera ever assembled, spanning decades of music going back to Atlantic Canada's first rappers and beat makers, all the way through to those who carry the torch today. Following previous exhibition at Mount Saint Vincent University Art Gallery (2024) and the Confederation Centre for the Arts (2025), East of East's showing in Fredericton will include a concentration on New Brunswick rappers, DJs, producers, and hip hop culture purveyors.

Join us for the exhibition opening on Friday July 24, beginning at 5 p.m.

East of East, The Atlantic Canadian Hip Hop Archive runs July 24-September 20 and will occupy the entire Charlotte Street Arts Centre.
