We are beyond grateful to all who came out to support our charities on International Women’s Day. You all made it happen!
Follow Foundry Fort St. John to learn about what they offer, how and where they show up and how we can help. The initial fundraising campaign to anchor them within our community is still ongoing. Once the initial funds are secured it opens the next door for funding for a physical location right here in FSJ. Let’s make it happen!! Please share it, talk about it and keep up the momentum. ☀️🌻💛
🌸 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION DONATION TOWARDS SU***DE PREVENTION🌸
On March 8, an amazing group of women in Fort St. John, led by Edwina Nearhood and Tracey Gray, hosted the International Women’s Day Celebration at the Lido. 💛
The afternoon featured local women sharing stories of strength, healing, and lived experience. Best of all, 100% of the event proceeds supported charity partners across three generations of women, including Foundry Fort St. John.
Edwina and Tracey explained:
“International Women’s Day FSJ chose charitable partners for three generations of women: Youth, Family Age and Elder. Planning started last year in the Fall; we chose Foundry as our youth partner for a number of reasons.
First, the services offered fill a need where there is an enormous gap. Mental health supports are hard to find, expensive and access can often include delays and sometimes difficult to navigate onboarding processes.
Not only can you gain access to a variety of counsellors and programs to work with at Foundry, but they also offer tools and resources online without you even having to sign up. That alone can be a game changer for someone who is troubled or experiencing trauma.
Youth can complete one interview and gain access to multiple services. Foundry is being recommended by health care professionals and providers as a good and trusted option for youth.
It was without exception, every woman on our event team had or have someone in their lives who has needed the services and supports offered by Foundry.
Lastly, the very difficult and deeply traumatic events that have occurred within our Northeastern BC communities over the last year have seen Foundry responding at the highest levels, giving resources and dedicating teams of people to support those in need.
We believe it is the right choice to support those who show up when you really need them.
Thank you Foundry for all that you do within our communities.”
We are especially grateful that this donation to Foundry Fort St. John will support our su***de prevention education initiatives, helping us continue to build awareness, strengthen community capacity, and equip more people with the skills to recognize and respond when someone may be struggling. 💙
