🇨🇦 Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦
On July 1, 1867, Canada became a nation through Confederation — a date first marked as Dominion Day and renamed Canada Day in 1982. For some, today is a celebration of freedom and home. For others, it’s a day of reflection — on colonial history, inequality, and the work still ahead.
Canada, in many ways, is a country in transition.
We’re facing real challenges:
🏠 A housing crisis and rising cost of living
⚕️ Strains on mental health and healthcare
🧭 Political division and disconnection
🌱 Ongoing reconciliation and reckoning with our past
And yet, transformation often comes through discomfort. There’s still strength in our communities, beauty in the land, and hope in the hearts of those working toward something better.
As someone also in a season of personal growth, I see Canada Day not just as a celebration — but as a pause. A moment to honour the past, recognize what’s broken, and imagine something more whole.
