Our first year of making unforgettable dishes for local impact has been filled with love from our kitchen to the communities we serve and support.

We participated in some incredible events:

🍝At Coldest Night of the Year, our pasta bar energized folks for their chilly walks through the community.
🍲For National Indigenous Peoples Day, we showcased stew and bannock from authentic recipes courtesy of Bissell Centre’s Indigenous Engagement program.
🥙Edmonton Mayor Andrew Knack and Alberta Minister of Mental Health and Addiction Rick Wilson enjoyed an array of lunch treats at the Den of Willows opening ceremony.
🍰Bissell Centre supporters and board members enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and desserts at the BIG event complemented by refreshing mocktails.
🍛We served an East-Indian feast to 120 people at the Kirk Centre for an evening of community connection.

At this year's Bissell Impact Gathering (BIG) event, we showed how even the smallest bites can leave the biggest impressions.

Just ask anyone who tried our tandoori spiced chicken wings, the bacon wrapped scallops, mini beef empanadas with chutney, or garlic butter shrimp skewers. This is just a small sampling of what we served to our incredible community of support — and no one left hungry.

Saturday was the best day!

We were thrilled to be part of Bissell Centre's Coldest Night of the Year by serving up a pasta bar to more than 390 walkers, staff, and volunteers.

Whether they walked 2 km or 5 km in the -24°C chill, we were ready with a warm, comforting meal on their return. Nothing beats comfort food and a room full of people coming together for a great cause. It was an honour for our team to help fuel such an incredible community event.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the pasta bar, we loved being part of your night!

Because food is love… and it’s even better with a side of good karma!

Did you know that Bissell Centre is partnered with the City of Edmonton’s Extreme Weather Response?

Edmonton winters are more than challenging – they can be life threatening. As shuttles connect with people needing shelter from the cold, our support workers on board connect people with our programs that will support their journey out of poverty and homelessness, and provide basic necessities. We’re just one part of a larger community supporting people through another harsh winter. Because everyone deserves a caring community.
