CSI BROADCAST CALL – NATHAN LARIOZA ( #2)

Here come the Clippers activating from the blue line and that’s #2, Nathan Larioza, jumping into the rush again. You can see why he’s over a point per game this season, such a smooth, confident release. He walks it in, loads, and fires with textbook shooting form from the San Jose defender. Larioza with 25 points already this year has been driving the Clippers offense from the back end all season long. Eyes up, weight transferred perfectly, and that puck is gone in a blink. That’s a high-end BCHL defenseman doing what high-end BCHL defensemen do.

Last night at Frank Crane had that old-school charge. The anthem dropped, the barn went quiet, and the boys lined up shoulder to shoulder. That moment before the puck hits the ice always feels like church.

The Clippers came out fast and heavy. Clean breakouts. Hard forechecks. The kind of November hockey where every shift has a little more meaning.

And right in the middle of it all was #30.

Goalies are built different. Calm face. Cold focus. Pads dusted with battle. He didn’t chase the play. He slowed it down. Locked in from the first shot to the last. That’s the kind of presence you build a season on.

The boys battled deep into the third. Grit. Pace. Commitment. The barn fed off it. The energy felt real.

Last nights game at the Nanaimo Ice Centre was a great tilt! The Nanaimo Steelmen knocked off the Lake Cowichan Apollos in a shootout 5-4 !! Brings them to 1-1 on the season.

A Journey of Dominance—From the BCHL Finals to the NHL!

It has been an absolute privilege capturing the journey of Cooper Black, a goaltender whose dedication, focus, and raw talent have propelled him to the highest level of the game.

During his time with the Nanaimo Clippers, Coop was an absolute fortress between the pipes, backstopping the team all the way to the BCHL Finals with clutch performances and highlight-reel saves. His presence in net was nothing short of commanding, proving time and time again that he was built for the big moments.

Now, history is being made once again. At 6’8”, Cooper Black becomes the tallest goaltender ever signed into the NHL—a milestone that cements his place among the elite. Seeing him officially sign with the Florida Panthers is a moment of pure pride, a testament to his unwavering determination and skill.

From the BCHL to the biggest stage in hockey, Coop is just getting started. The NHL has gained an absolute force in the crease.
