3. Be quick. Line ups suck.
4. Be flexible. We find ways to serve beers, cocktails, and wines for our clients that we don’t have on our menu to make the event more customizable.

We call it “grit”.

Grit is something we define as not a problem, but a slightly negative experience we had or we see others have, when working with us, or being in the space.

Ex. guest frustration when we switch from glassware to plastic near the end of the night to protect peoples feet when they dance (at least one glass gets broken after 9:00 pm every time we allow glassware on the dance floor).

Solution: signage communicating the why behind the decision.

Result: no more complaints about plastic glasses.

Every time we feel “grit” in an experience with a client or a guest, we bring it up to the team, talk about it, figure out if it was a specific guest issue - meaning only one person, at one particular type of event, and probably not going to re-occur. Or, is it likely something other guests felt but didn’t mention. Is this a repeatable issue? Is this something we can change?

We relentlessly work to improve our client and guest experience.

We don’t serve anything we don’t try, and love, first.
Feature Friday has become the ritual that grounds our belief in only serving things we truly believe in. Fridays are now the day for our full time team to test a new food or drink and, as I say “rip it apart”. I don’t want opinions that agree with me. I want honest feedback. We don’t all have the same palette so, let’s lean into that. Not all foods are for everyone. It’s a way to both educate our staff on our offerings, ensure our offerings are amazing and approachable, coach the staff on how to give and take feedback, disagree well, and learn from each other, and, have fun together.
We love it and I love that it helps us build a better company for our clients.
We will never stop assessing what we offer and improving it. It’s just who we are.
How do we know something passes? It gets the Tamara happy dance 🪩.
