JAMAICAN HURICANE SUPPORT. Norfolk FARM OWNER Peter VanBerlo of Berlo's Best is organizing local HURRICANE MELISSA RELIEF support for Jamaica. Peter is one of many farmers in Norfolk County who employs staff from Jamaica whose families and homes have been directly affected by the devistating results of the storm.
Peter has stepped up to spearhead farm and local support and a container is being delivered to his farm to fill with food and supplies that he will ship once it is filled.
We are asking FARM and BUSINESS OWNERS and the COMMUNITY for DONATIONS of store gift certificates (details below) and non parishable food items such as rice, juice, tea, coffee, peanut butter, canned sardines, tuna, granola bars, snacks for children, Grace & Cool Runnings brand foods. (Food Basics, and Superstore staff will direct you to the Caribbean food section), DIAPERS, Hygiene and female personal care products, new and gently used housewares such as towels, bedding, kitchenware, hardware and tools. For your convenience, and ease of space and labour, store GIFT CERTIFICATES can be dropped off to both locations and the CCSYR team will shop for Caribbean food items and deliver them to the container on your behalf).
NO CLOTHING and (repectfully), space in the container is valuable so no expired food or warn out goods will be sent. CCSYR Simcoe Sattelite office is supporting this effort through promotional support as well as partnerships with Grand River Community Health and CMHA to provide counselling and mental health support to local farm staff. ...
