Spring rises towards Summer on this beautiful Pacific Coast island; the beauty of winter woods embellished with mosses, lichens and ferns has made way for springs' snowdrops, hellebore, daffodils and tulips, now succeeded by a flow of late spring and early summer seasonal flowers.
The flow of Nature is so swift and ephemeral one barely has time to appreciate and honor the beauty zooming past. Everyday I pick flowers, everyday a unique collection of bright beautiful little flower creatures brings light into our human realm; a posy of Violets, a little vase of yellow Primrose, a slender crystal vase for fragarant Lily of the Valley with a ruff of green leaves.
Tall, graceful stems of Columbine in a rainbow of blue, pink, lavender and raspberry shades, form an upper story canopy over the garden for just over a week in late May, then, a windy afternoon
sets flowers dancing and petals falling.
Flagged iris unfurl next, their scent perfumes the evening, and by the next afternoon the beautiful blossom is fading, and the next one down the stalk is opening.
Drifts of white and pale pink Dames Rocket glow in the gloaming, and more perfume swirls like smoke throughout nooks in the garden.
Roses are budding up, waiting for June until they begin to parade themselves under the blue skies and scudding clouds, and are tucked into every bouquet and posy.
Sweet Peas are gradually climbing the netting, the Cosmos, Nicotiana, Sunflowers and other annuals are planted. Poppies are dreaming of dancing in the borders, and Peonies swell and begin to burst into lush voluptuous gorgeousness.
Summer weddings and parties and birthdays will be dressed in loveliness from Twigs abundant garden.
Please order flowers 24 hours or more in advance, to give me time for harvesting and conditioning and designing. Large orders like weddings need much longer notice and consultations. I also make wreaths, pillars, arches, garlands, corsages, and traditional bouquets for weddings.
Happy Summer everyone!!
