Elopement on the Shore

They didn’t need a crowd, a ballroom, or a towering cake.

Just each other, their son, the ocean, and a little magic.

A soft picnic laid gently by the sand—linen fluttering in the breeze, champagne catching the last rays of golden light. Simple. Intentional. Sacred.

The waves whispered vows before they were spoken.
The wind whistled through ocean grass like a quiet blessing.
And the sun, generous and kind, wrapped them in warmth.

There was laughter carried on the wind,
hands held tightly with salt-kissed skin,
and eyes that said “This is all we need.”

No noise.
No performance.
Just peace.
Love in its truest form, cradled by the rhythm of the tide.

When the world lets someone just keep going—unchecked, unpunished—this is what happens.

There was a belief, perhaps naïve, perhaps willfully ignorant, that the perpetrators would eventually come to their senses. That if we just waited, they would stop. That somehow, the scale of their violence would be enough to wake them—or us—up. But they haven’t stopped. We haven’t stopped them.

We are watching, in real time, as children, the elderly, and entire families starve to death. We are witnessing unimaginable suffering being live-streamed. And still, the world’s so-called leaders hesitate. They waffle. They issue statements. They avoid action.

This could have been stopped. It should have been stopped.

This is what happens when those in power refuse to hold anyone accountable. When political alliances and geopolitical convenience are prioritized over human lives. When the enforcement of international law becomes optional, selective, and spineless.

I am outraged. I am heartsick. I am appalled.

We will not forget. The world will not forget. The blood of Palestine is on the hands of not only the perpetrators but also on those who allowed it to continue—those who stood by with their arms crossed, waiting for the storm to pass.

History is watching. And so are we.
