Coldstream Live Music Society Purpose and Mission
The Coldstream Live Music Society is a non-profit Society registered in BC, To Promote Live Music and Music Education in the North Okanagan. About Us
We do this by presenting the Coldstream Coffee House. The Coffee House is not itself a venue, but rather a show format that we have developed over time. We have presented the show at different venues in the area over the years. The format combines an open-mic section with a feature act following, with a modest merchandise table and a coffee, tea and snacks concession on the side. As most of us are musicians and artists ourselves, we want to present a quality show that is enjoyable for our audiences and for the musicians and spoken-word artists who participate. We generally host local performers, but we have also featured travelling groups. We provide professional-grade sound equipment, and we set up the room to encourage a listening and appreciative audience. We promote music education in our area by donating a portion of our year-end profits to compatible causes. Over the years we have sponsored individual students through the Vernon Community Music School and other instructors, we funded a music therapy program, and we have purchased sets of rhythm instruments for local elementary schools. The program and the concession are presented by a group of enthusiastic volunteers. We welcome like-minded new faces to join our ranks to help us continue to put on the Coffee House and further our goals. If you’re interested in volunteering and learning more about the Coldstream Live Music Society, please feel free to message us. So please join us for a family friendly, low cost evening of acoustic music, story telling, and poetry by local performers. Maybe you'll be enticed to taste one of the sweet treats from the canteen along with a mug of coffee or tea. Every evening is different but the cozy atmosphere is always the same. Standard open mic format. Space is limited, but we will make every effort to get everyone on. Doors open at 6:30. Performers will be reimbursed their admission fee. For more detailed information, see, "Tips for Performers," in the photo albums or 'pinned' at the top of the news feed. Check out the EVENTS tab for detail on all the upcoming shows.

Hello folks and friends!
Our final show in the Coldstream Community Hall this spring will be Saturday, March 22, 2025. This is the fourth Saturday of the month instead of our normal third, so mark your calendars!
As usual, the doors open at 6:00 for open mic signups and the show starts at 7:00. Admission is still only $5:00 and concession by donation. There is plenty of parking available in the church parking lot across the street.
You are in for a treat, because our feature act this month is Betty Johnson, accompanied by Neil Fraser. They are no strangers to our stage, and every time we hear Betty's rich buttery vocals and the virtuoso guitar of Neil Fraser, we experience a live music event that is hard to beat. Betty is working on a new album, so we might hear some new tracks along with her older favourites.
Come on out to Support Live Music-- it'll be fun!

Heads up, folks! Our next Coldstream Coffee House will be on Saturday March 22. For those of you who watch these things, you'll notice that that evening is the fourth Saturday of the month, not our usual third. We had to move it for this month, because the new Coldstream Community Hall is such a popular venue, it was booked for another event on our usual night.
Our feature this month will be the fantastic duo of Betty Johnson and Neil Fraser. That will be a show to catch! More info to come.

On another subject altogether, Elbows Up! 🇨🇦

And a special thank you goes out to Coldstream Council and Staff, who make this terrific venue available so we can put on our event.
Thanks also to Steel Wound, our feature act, and to Betty Johnson for taking photos.

Steel Wound, the North Okanagan's favourite four-piece trio will grace our stage for the next show, Saturday, February 15.
As usual, doors open at 6:00 for open mic signups, with the show starting at 7:00. Admission still only $5.00 and concession by donation.

Steel Wound is an acoustic combo based in Vernon, BC. Their unique mix of pithy original and semi-obscure cover tunes provides something for everyone.

With a genre-defying repertoire reaching back to the 1800s, four long-time musicians deliver a fresh blend of acoustic and slide guitars, lap steel, mandolin, banjo, harmonica, acoustic bass, stripped-down drums and vocal harmonies.

They make the old ones sound new again, and make the new ones sound vaguely familiar.

Here's a fun throwback for a Thursday! Back in 2016 in the old hall, a great friend of the Coldstream Coffee House, Carolyn Anele played a feature set with the amazing Andrew Smith as a sideman and our old pal Rod MacDonald on the bass.
Lots of fun!
