Coldstream Live Music Society Purpose and Mission
The Coldstream Live Music Society is a non-profit Society registered in BC, To Promote Live Music and Music Education in the North Okanagan. About Us
We do this by presenting the Coldstream Coffee House. The Coffee House is not itself a venue, but rather a show format that we have developed over time. We have presented the show at different venues in the area over the years. The format combines an open-mic section with a feature act following, with a modest merchandise table and a coffee, tea and snacks concession on the side. As most of us are musicians and artists ourselves, we want to present a quality show that is enjoyable for our audiences and for the musicians and spoken-word artists who participate. We generally host local performers, but we have also featured travelling groups. We provide professional-grade sound equipment, and we set up the room to encourage a listening and appreciative audience. We promote music education in our area by donating a portion of our year-end profits to compatible causes. Over the years we have sponsored individual students through the Vernon Community Music School and other instructors, we funded a music therapy program, and we have purchased sets of rhythm instruments for local elementary schools. The program and the concession are presented by a group of enthusiastic volunteers. We welcome like-minded new faces to join our ranks to help us continue to put on the Coffee House and further our goals. If you’re interested in volunteering and learning more about the Coldstream Live Music Society, please feel free to message us. So please join us for a family friendly, low cost evening of acoustic music, story telling, and poetry by local performers. Maybe you'll be enticed to taste one of the sweet treats from the canteen along with a mug of coffee or tea. Every evening is different but the cozy atmosphere is always the same. Standard open mic format. Space is limited, but we will make every effort to get everyone on. Doors open at 6:30. Performers will be reimbursed their admission fee. For more detailed information, see, "Tips for Performers," in the photo albums or 'pinned' at the top of the news feed. Check out the EVENTS tab for detail on all the upcoming shows.

Hi everybody!
The Coldstream Coffee House is very happy to present the feature for the Saturday, April 18th event.

🎶 Inge and the Swing Miners 🎶
Formed in 2019, Inge and the Swing Miners bring vintage vibes and charm to every stage they play. Inspired by the golden era of jazz—think smoky clubs, toe-tapping rhythms, and timeless melodies—the band draws on the sounds of gypsy swing, jazz standards, and blues.

They’re thrilled to return as the feature act at Coldstream Coffee House on April 18th, the very place where it all began.
Fronted by the captivating vocals of Inge (with the occasional cheeky kazoo appearance), the band is rounded out by Aidan on guitar and Danny, a multi-instrumentalist weaving together guitar, clarinet, and bass to create rich, original arrangements.
Expect warm melodies, lively rhythms, and a dash of old-school charm—perfect for an evening of great music and good company.
✨ Come along and let Inge and the Swing Miners take you back in time! ✨

This will be the last Spring event for The Coldstream Coffee House taking place Saturday, April 18th, Doors open at 6:30, show starts at at 7PM. There will be a sign up sheet at the entrance desk for those who want to play for the open mic session. Admission $5. Refreshments and baked goodies will be served by donation.

Hi everyone!
The Coldstream Coffee House is very happy to present the feature for the Saturday, March 21st event.

“The Daves Of Our Lives”is an engaging local duo that have played together in bars, restaurants, private events and stages large and small since 2014. Dave Thackray (lead vocal & guitar) and Dave Moore (vocals, guitar and bass) play songs that you all know and love, but with their own stamp. It is highly likely that you will smile and sing along!

Dave Thackray: “We get asked how we choose the songs. Well, they have to move and resonate with us first, otherwise they will not connect authentically with anyone else. Usually (but not always), we are taking our audience back to the favourites in their vinyl collection, and the music that was so important to them then, and is still now”.

Dave Moore: “But these songs are loved by the younger guys too. We ask them how they can possibly know these classics from years ago?
One reply was - well we were ‘trapped’ in the baby seat in the car while my parents played them, so this music was absorbed by osmosis!”

The Dave’s are huge fans of The Coldstream Coffee House.
“It is a unique, eclectic and encouraging space, all the musicians we know just love paying there.
It builds community and connection in these isolating days of social media, etc. AI cannot begin to reproduce the love and connection in that room! It’s the real deal and should be valued as such. We are stoked to be invited to play”.

The Coldstream Coffee house will take place Saturday, March 21st, Doors open at 6:30, show starts at 7PM.
There will be a sign up sheet at the entrance desk for those who want to play for the open mic session. Admission $5.

Hi everybody!
We are very excited to have the Keith Hustler and Hugh Spinney duo in as the feature act for our February 21st Coldstream Coffee House event.
Here is some bio info for you:

Born in Armstrong, Keith Hustler returned to the Okanagan Valley at the ‘turn of the last century’ and began immersing himself in the vibrant local music scene. Hustler explores the common roots and connections of folk, country, blues, and rock music through a mix of acoustic covers, featuring the works of Big Bill Broonzy, Ray Charles, and Keb Mo, as well as John Prine, Fred Eaglesmith, and Jonathan Byrd.

Hugh Spinney is a Vernon based singer-songwriter originally hailing from a small northern town in BC. Raised in this close-knit community, Hugh's passion for music was ignited at a young age. He began writing songs at the age of 14, inspired by music he heard at school dances, on radio and at home. This included music by the rock bands of the 60s, country and jazz. Soon he was playing in a band and playing music at those school dances. Over the years Hugh has performed solo, played in classic rock bands and fronted a blues band. Hugh continues to hone his guitar playing skills and songwriting craft.

There’s a new duo in town!

Hi folks! The Coldstream Coffee House is happy to announce that February’s feature act will be Keith Hustler & Hugh Spinney.

Keith has always immersed himself in the local music scene.
Hugh’s passion for music started at the young age of 14.
We’ve seen these guys perform individually and in bands over the years so the question now is how did they happen to get together as a duo? People want to know!

Keith’s mentions that: ‘sometimes playing solo gets old real fast. I’ve had a chance to play with many different musicians over the years so I know that music needs to be shared with other musicians and listeners. For me, that really is where the joy comes from.´

And Hugh says: ‘Keith and I have an overlap of musical tastes in the bluesy folk americana genres. I think my single note phrasing goes well with Keith's fingerstyle playing for the songs we have picked to perform. While it's always great to share a performance with another musician, I really get enjoyment from the pre-performance work of collaboration to get an arrangement nailed down. When a song starts to come together, I get these mini triumphs along the way and it's great to share these mini achievements with a fellow musician. You don't get that when practising for a solo gig.´

What a wonderful evening this is going to be showcasing this stellar duo February 21st, at the Coldstream Community Hall, 7PM, Doors open at 6:30.
Stay tuned for more info.
