Saturday’s wedding at Ganaraska Forest Centre was one like I have never experienced before. Greg and Dakota were so incredibly happy with their little puppy as ring bearer. Bubbles and love filled the air. Not to mention the rain that teemed down on them and their guests. I was soaked. No, I mean soaked. No umbrella in sight. Still, we made it happen and they couldn’t have been happier. I was “singing in the rain”.

It was a two show day and the second wedding was held inside the couple's home in Cobourg. It was a romance that had started in high school and a picture of the couple at the Senior Prom adorned their signing table. Their lives went in different directions and five years ago they reconnected thru Facebook. It was perfect timing. Their Mothers, now in their 90's, were unaware of the events planned for the day but they were thrilled to learn their children were getting married to each other. The Mother of the Groom was delighted that her teapot from the Ukraine was used to serve tea with the Red Velvet cake.

What an incredible day! Two weddings so entirely different with one thing in common....love. Anastasia and Dakota were married in their backyard which had been painstakingly decorated to capture their true essence. They included smudging at the beginning of their service and ended with handfasting with a braid the Bride designed. Her flowers had also been created by hand. And, of course, the crowning glory was the tiara filled with sparkling jewels and pearls. Fit for a barefoot Princess Bride. Even her wee wee daughter left her shoes behind, following in her Mother's footsteps. Magical.
