Here's what's happening around CSFF in August! 🌻

Our U-Pick field is CLOSED until further notice due to prolonged heat & drought. 
At this point, we will be judging whether to open the farm stand on a week by week basis as we wait for our dahlias to catch up.
Here's hoping some cooler overnight temps (and a little rain, please?!) can help turn things around this month. 🤞

Every other week for five whole years, I've sat down to update our e-listers about all the goings on around the farm. These snippets 👆 are all from today's edition.

With such an underwhelming start (and middle, lol 😅) to our season, it's been challenging to keep things fresh. So today, I poured out a little of that vulnerability onto the keyboard and received an overwhelmingly positive response in return. I am so grateful for this flower community who continues to cheer me on. 💜💛

What does a flower farmer do in January? Oh, you know, just kick back with a hot tea, binge Netflix, and wait for warmer weather…

Uh, no.

The winter season might look calm and cozy from the outside, but behind-the-scenes, I’m keeping busy with all the planning tasks + prep work needed to make sure the flower fields don’t turn into chaos come July. Here’s the scoop on what I actually do this time of year:

🗺️ Field Map: I map out where every stem will go, including when beds are getting flipped for successions.

🌰 Seed Orders: I double-check my inventory and make sure I have every seed I need on hand.

📈 Business Strategy: Crunching the numbers, plotting my calendar, and dreaming up innovative ways to reach my goals this year.

💻 Marketing Plans: Plotting social posts, launch campaigns, and newsletters to keep you excited for all the floral fabulousness ahead.

January is when the magic starts—because without a solid plan, even the best garden can go sideways!

Ah, I missed that familiar glow of the grow lights. 🥰✨️ I start the majority of my seeds from mid-late February to April, but Lisianthus requires *special treatment* and an earlier start than most. They're like growing a literal plant baby— approximately 9 months from sowing to harvest!
