Great presentations last night is very true, and we send our congratulations to the Cobalt Bunker Museum for being the summer session recipient from the 100 Women Who Care Temiskaming donors.

We are excited to open our doors to 100 Women Who Care, Temiskaming Shores for their summer gathering! See you at 6:00 pm tmrw.

New venue for our August meeting. Our next meeting of 100+ Women Who Care Temiskaming Shores & More will be held at the Cobalt Train Station on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Doors open at 6:00 PM for registration. Meeting begins at 7:00 PM. Check your email for more information.

Norma Hughes and her friend all the way from Edmonton, Alberta. Both ladies attended Cobalt High for their final year.

Always a pleasure opening our doors to the public on Thursday afternoons.

Today’s guest group, the Morin girls born and raised in Cobalt (they add “born at home” by Dr. Dunning & Dr. Joyal).

Apparently, blueberries were brought to the Train Station and loaded on cars stacked very high and headed for Toronto. Who knew there was a wild picking blueberry industry here and the railway was the freight service.

The old doors made a “clang” when shut from the old hardware.

We also learned the ONR provided a mail service. You could hand over your mail to the conductor or attendant in the mail car and they’d sort it on the route south.

Loads of memories always shared in these Thursday afternoon. We’re so fortunate to have this Station standing and operating as an event hall and Air BNB. Forever grateful to Mel & Adam Peddie for their investment in the preservation of history and setting a stage for future memories to be made!
