At approximately 6:06 a.m. on October 2, 2026, the City of Campbell River Fire Department responded to a report of a possible landslide near the condominium building at 350 South Island Highway.

Fire department personnel attended the site and assessed the situation. No evacuation of the building was required, and no injuries have been reported.

Cleanup of the affected area is underway, primarily within the property's parking area adjacent to the slope.

𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: As part of the preliminary site investigation, the City confirmed that a watermain break occurred in the area in the early morning on October 2 which contributed to the slope failure.

City crews are completing repairs to the watermain and will continue to monitor the site as required. The City will continue to monitor the site, and further assessment of the slope and incident will be conducted.

Any further updates will be made available on the City website at www.campbellriver.ca.
