What if your wedding felt less like a wedding … and more like the best dinner party the city has ever seen?

Restaurant weddings are having a moment, and I completely get it!

Think 40 of your favourite people instead of 140. A beautiful space that already has personality. INCREDIBLE food coming out of an actual kitchen. Really GREAT cocktails. CANDLELIGHT. Flowers spilling across the table. And everyone close enough to actually feel part of the celebration.

There’s something incredibly chic about it!

Southern Ontario makes it even better. Interesting architecture, super cool interiors, and with restaurants with a vibe all their own you don’t need to transform an empty room.

Lean into what’s already there. Add some gorgeous florals, layers of candlelight, thoughtful stationery and a table that makes everyone want to linger longer.

Smaller doesn’t have to mean simpler. Sometimes it means MORE OF THE REALY GOOD STUFF!

Less ballroom. More atmosphere.
Less traditional. More personality.

Honestly, I’d be happily spend the entire wedding season designing parties like this!

Your going to need to see this one to believe it!!

What started as a hard and raw cold industrial warehouse with concrete floors, exposed metal ceiling and beams and not a flower in sight, became the setting for one of those transformations that reminds me why I LOVE WHAT I DO!

But a transformation like this doesn’t simply happen by bringing in beautiful flowers.

It begins with seeing what the space can become!

Every decision was considered. From how to soften the surroundings, to where to create impact, how guests would move through the space, the warmth of the dramatic palette, the scale of the florals, the candlelight and all the layers that would make this tired old Industrial space feel warm and inviting.

Then came the production, logistics and a whole lot of behind the scenes work to bring the vision to life.

The result?

A beautifully considered autumn wedding that felt warm, romantic, and completely at home in a space you might have never imagined for a wedding!

Today marks Three Years Married for Kyle Douglas and I 🤍🤍🤍

So I thought I’d share a few of my favourite pictures and maybe a few you wouldn’t suspect I’d post.

1) Golden Hour/ Sunset photos are always dreamy.

2) the perfect baby face of Noah at 9 months old

3) Just a simple photo of my boys. Marley was 2 and Noah was 9 months old! And they were 2 of the 11 children who walked down the aisle lol

6) this is Kyle’s fav photo. Just us walking to a brewery post ceremony and pre cocktails.

7) how romantic our venue felt with sun setting! 😍

8 + 9) our moms. They are the best and I loved seeing how happy they both were all day

10) a phone pic my friend took. Beers in hand, hearts full ♥️

Lovely Sparrow 📸 Torry & Alex captured our day perfectly. We wanted to lean into our lives and not try and manufacture a story. We were proud parents of little ones, I was still in a postpartum haze, and we both were all about making the day about celebrating our families!

I will forever love all these little moments. And I cannot wait for you to open all your galleries and find all the little moments captured too ♥️

This past weekend was extra special 🤍

My stunning sister in law, Emma, married the love of her life, Austin. It was the most perfect day celebrated at London Hunt and Country Club

Although these are just a few sneak peaks from Lovely Sparrow 📸 Torry & Alex, I have to say, this day will live rent free in my mind forever!

Congratulations Emma and Austin!! We love you! 💕💕
And yes, I planned it 😂

Marta and Eric 😍

These two were honestly just the best! I can’t wait to share more about their day. From the first moment we met, they were warm, kind, and just truly really great humans! It was so lovely to be apart of their wedding day!
Their wedding will live rent free in my mind 😍

Okay, so you’re booked in at the , that’s great!! Here are my top 5 pieces of advice (as a planner who’s there a lot…. Like I was here for all week 😂)

1) the ceremony building and the reception building have a different address! This is helpful to note for your guests when having a ceremony on-site. So many people park, walk across the bridge to go the hotel address, and then waste time walking back to the ceremony location (probably in the lot where they parked!) make sure you tell them the right jumping off point! PS this is helpful information for your transportation too!!

2) Remember your guests are likely checking into the hotel between 3-4pm, so if you don’t want to be seen by all your guests, maybe plan for photos not in front of the hotel doors ;)

3) Elora is BUSY! I mean, it’s so dang cute.. so of course there are lots of tourists! Buffer some extra time for photos incase you need to wait for that perfect bridge shot, or take photos on and off on the street since cars can’t really go around you!

4) Trust your photo team when it comes time for sunset photos. If they say “we have to go!” That means we “have to go!” The sun can fall behind the buildings a little early, meaning although we can kinda predict the time, you actually need to watch the weather and listen to the pros!! Because trust me, you want iconic sunset photos infront of the gates if possible!!

5) Ubers and Cabs are not really a thing there. I would 100% recommend getting a service to shuttle guests at the end of the night to surrounding hotels as it’s the quickest and safest way home!! It’s worth the money!

And bonus? The staff are amazing, food is incredible and the hospitality is always top notch!! Enjoy your wedding or event and I hope these tips helped!
