Getting married at City Hall can actually cost more than having an officiant come to you.

Here’s the breakdown 👇
📍 City Hall ceremonies
• Only Monday–Friday
• Time slots: 10–12 or 1–3
• Marriage license: $187 (required no matter what)
• Officiant fee: $242 + tax
• Administrative fee: $164 + tax

Total: $406 + tax (not including the license)

When you book me for your civil ceremony:
• It’s on your schedule
• At your chosen location
• My stated fee is $350
• And if it’s off-season, during the week, or I’m already in your area — I can often offer better pricing

After the Wedding: What Happens Next?
Once your ceremony is complete, your officiant’s legal responsibility is to get your marriage license in the mail within 48 hours. That part is done, and congratulations—you’re married immediately as long as all the legal elements of your ceremony were completed.
But here’s the important part: the marriage certificate—your official proof of marriage—is something you need to apply for yourself, either online or through your county. The government won’t notify you once they process your license, and it can take 6–12 weeks, sometimes 3–5 months, and in rare cases up to a year. This certificate is what you’ll need for name changes, benefits, and other legal purposes.

To make it easy, I leave your Record of Solemnization in your card box with a thank-you card and a QR code with next-step reminders. I also email all that information, because I know you’re in the afterglow of your wedding and don’t want to worry about paperwork.

Your love story doesn’t stop at “I do”—but this is the part that makes it official in the eyes of the law.
