Had an amazing time tonight DJing for Red Deer Lake School. The kids were ready to dance and actually had great taste and requested a wide variety of songs. 2 hours absolutely flew by. No pix ‘cause I’m not posting pictures of other people’s children. I had a really fun time, and they sang along to quite a few tracks. It had mild bachelorette party vibes. 10/10 would recommend.

Jaime and I love live music and occasionally make travel decisions based on what’s happening and who’s playing. Last night we didn’t have to travel far. A huge shout out to BuckingJam Palace for producing the Oscar Peterson Family Album (they are playing again tonight and tomorrow). It was an absolute privilege and joy to sit front row and listen to 4 masters share their gifts - 3 musicians and a storyteller, Oscar’s daughter.

As a person who is still trying to decipher when things matter and when they don’t, last night’s message rang loud and clear - the art’s can be a beacon and example of care, mutual support, mastery, and community - arts matter.

Shout out to Laura Kleiner and Anne Flynn for making the night that much more special.

Didn’t mean to, but today turned into a record haul day. Some absolute gems in here, some unknowns that I took a risk on. Win of the day: Pointer Sisters, Pinball Number Count from Sesame Street.

It’s funny getting a thank you card before playing for the night, but when you’ve been waiting a couple of years for the big day to arrive, you just gotta get ‘er done. This group was so lovely and danced the whole night.

Shout out to Coco + Ash for keeping us all together and The Bison Restaurant & Terrace for the beautiful venue and delicious meal (and tasty cocktails).
