“Hoot” is a famous real-life Eurasian Eagle-Owl from Farson, Wyoming, who worked as a Hollywood animal actor. Handled by bird expert Jeff Shelburg, Hoot appeared in over 100 films, including the Harry Potter series, where he famously served as an animal double for the series’ various owls.

Hoot’s Role in Harry Potter
While Harry’s primary owl, Hedwig, was actually played by several different snowy owls (such as Gizmo and Kasper), Hoot was used extensively across the wizarding world franchise for various flying scenes, background shots, and as a double for the different owls.
