Labatt’s Halifax brewery is pausing beer production this week to focus on canning clean drinking water. 💧 👇

Starting Sunday evening, the facility will produce 20,000 litres — about 60,000 cans — for communities affected by Canada’s second-worst wildfire season on record. Across the country, more than 72,000 square kilometres have burned, and Nova Scotia alone has seen over 100 wildfires so far in 2025.

The effort is part of Labatt’s Canadian Disaster Relief Program, launched in 2012, which has supplied over one million cans of water nationwide during emergencies.

The program is designed so production can quickly shift from beer to water when disaster strikes, ensuring help reaches those who need it most.

The Alberta government is rolling out major updates to liquor and cannabis regulations - aimed at cutting red tape, expanding consumer access, and creating more flexibility for small businesses. 🍻

👇 Here’s what’s changing:

🍻 Party Bikes – Small liquor producers will soon be allowed to serve their own products on large-format bikes (aka “party bikes”), lifting restrictions that previously prevented them from advertising or selling on the move.

🏬 In-Building Liquor Stores – Businesses that own or lease large spaces will now be able to set up a separate liquor store inside their building, provided it has its own entrance and is fully divided from other retail areas with floor-to-ceiling walls.

🌿 On-Site Cannabis Sales – Federally licensed cannabis growers will be eligible to apply for a retail license to sell directly from the same property they grow on—bringing Alberta in line with policies in other provinces.

These changes aim to streamline the rules, support local businesses, and offer more choice for Alberta consumers.

Big changes are coming to Vancouver’s nightlife! Vancouver’s city council has approved new liquor service hours, allowing bars and restaurants downtown to serve alcohol as late as 4 a.m.  ⏰ 🍸

Outside the downtown core, businesses will be eligible for 3 a.m. service on weekends and 2 a.m. nightly. These hours won’t be automatic – businesses will need to apply and go through a review process that includes community input. 🗣

While the shift is expected to roll out this fall, officials say the impact will likely be gradual, as not all businesses will adopt the latest hours.

The city is also considering late-night transportation needs, including NightBus service and rideshare availability. 🚌

A licensing firm is suing two of its former executives and their new company, alleging they misused confidential materials to launch Hulk Hogan’s “Real American” beer. 👀👇

The $10 million lawsuit claims the duo used insider knowledge and business plans — originally developed while they were with the licensing company — to strike a deal with Hogan and bring the beer to market under their own brand. 💵

The licensing firm says it had an agreement with Hogan to serve as a brand ambassador and was exploring a venture with the Busch family before the plan was allegedly taken over.

A B.C. woman’s attempt to claim $5,000 in damages for a stained custom sofa has been denied by the province’s Civil Resolution Tribunal. 🛋🍺

She alleged the mark — along with a lingering beer smell — was left by flood restoration workers months earlier. 👇

While she suspected contractors had used her empty unit to drink in, the tribunal found there wasn’t enough evidence to link the damage directly to the restoration company or its employees, especially given the gap in time between the move-out and when the stain was discovered.

Who do you think should foot the bill for this mystery beer stain? 🍺 Let the couch court commence in the comments.

A new interprovincial agreement will soon allow Canadians to order alcohol directly from producers in other provinces and territories. 🍷🍺

Signed by nine provinces and Yukon, the deal is set to take effect by May 2026, opening the door to cross-border personal alcohol sales for the first time. 👇

Once implemented, Canadians (except those in Newfoundland and Labrador) will be able to purchase wine, beer, and spirits for personal use, shipped straight from craft producers across the country. While the core agreement is in place, details around shipping, taxation, and enforcement are still being finalized.

This move is part of a broader push to reduce internal trade barriers and improve access to Canadian-made products across provincial lines. It’s a meaningful step forward for producers, consumers, and the craft community alike.

What do you think — long overdue or just the start? 👀 Drop your thoughts below! 💬
