Morning mimosas, anyone? 🍹

Alberta liquor service rules have been updated, allowing licensed venues to begin serving alcohol as early as 6 a.m. year-round. ⏰

👉 Previously, early service before 9 a.m. required special approval for select events, including the Calgary Stampede, where early-morning service has long been routine.

The change is intended to reduce paperwork for licensees while giving bars, restaurants, and event venues more flexibility.

Rock Box Variety Pack from ! 🧡

📍Founded in Calgary in 1985, Big Rock came to be after avid beer fan Ed McNally wanted more options for great brews. True to their Alberta roots, Big Rock was named after a glacial boulder in the middle of Okotoks. 🪨

With a passion for great beer and an emphasis on high-quality ingredients, Bog Rock has since become Canada’s largest craft brewery. Their Rock Box Variety Pack offers five fan-favourite Alberta Beers – a lager, an IPA, a pale ale, a wheat ale, and a brown ale. 🍻

🏔️ Did you know? The Cave & Basin is known as the birthplace of Canada's national parks👇

In 1883, three Canadian Pacific Railway workers discovered the natural hot springs on the side of Sulphur Mountain, setting off a chain of events that led to the creation of Banff National Park – and eventually Canada's entire national park system. 🇨🇦✨

A few more fun facts:

💧 The hot springs were protected by the federal government in 1885, creating Canada's first protected reserve.

🏞️ The site had long been known and valued by Indigenous Peoples before its "discovery" by railway workers.

🐌 The Cave & Basin is home to the endangered Banff Springs Snail, a species found nowhere else in the world.

Fast forward 140+ years, and we're lucky enough to celebrate Banff Beerfest at this iconic location. 🍻🏔️

🇨🇦 A government-backed Canadian project is giving beer waste a second life. ♻️

and are partnering on a $1.1 million initiative to turn brewers' spent grain (the leftover barley from beer production) into new food ingredients, including protein, fibre, sweeteners and cocoa alternatives. 👀🍻

The project is supported by Protein Industries Canada, one of the federal government's innovation clusters, and aims to reduce waste while creating more value from Canadian-grown crops. 🌾

Globally, more than 36 million tonnes of brewers' spent grain are produced each year.
While much of it is used for animal feed, this project is exploring how it can be transformed into ingredients.
