U.S. targets Canadian alcohol rules in upcoming CUSMA review. 🇺🇸👇

The United States has identified Canadian alcohol policies as a key issue in next year’s review of the Canada–U.S.–Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), signalling that provincial restrictions on U.S. beer and spirits could affect whether the trade deal is extended long term.

U.S. trade officials say the agreement has expanded American exports but argue that unresolved barriers remain. Among them are provincial measures that limit or remove U.S. alcohol products from government-run liquor stores. 🍻

Those restrictions have significantly reduced Canadian sales for U.S. alcohol producers and drawn heightened attention from U.S. policymakers. Several provinces, including Ontario, have indicated the measures will stay in place until tariff relief or a revised trade framework is achieved.

U.S. virologist Chris Buck has drawn attention by testing an experimental vaccine delivered through beer brewed with genetically engineered yeast. 👀🩺

The yeast is designed to produce harmless virus-like particles intended to stimulate an immune response when consumed. 🧪🍻

The beer-based approach is being explored independently and outside formal approval processes. Early self-testing suggests the approach may trigger antibody production without immediate side effects, but the experiment has not undergone clinical trials or peer review.

👉 That has raised concerns among scientists and ethicists about safety, effectiveness, regulatory oversight, and the potential impact on public trust in vaccines.

For now, the project remains experimental and controversial, highlighting tensions between innovation, regulation, and public health.

Several Canadian provinces are moving forward with plans to sell remaining inventories of U.S.-made alcohol, with proceeds directed toward food banks and charitable organizations.🍻🇨🇦

Earlier this year, multiple provinces removed American liquor from store shelves in response to U.S. tariffs on Canadian imports. Provinces are now repurposing those supplies to generate funding for community support programs.

Prince Edward Island expects to raise more than $400,000, while Newfoundland and Labrador and Nova Scotia have already issued large advance payments to food access organizations.

📍 Alberta and Saskatchewan remain the only provinces that never removed American-made alcohol from shelves.

A raccoon that captured widespread attention after breaking into a Virginia liquor store late last month has now been identified as a repeat offender. 🦝👀

📰 The incident occurred on November 29, when the animal entered a liquor store in Hanover County, knocked bottles from shelves, and was later found unconscious in the bathroom.

💛 An animal protection officer responding to the call discovered the raccoon visibly intoxicated but unharmed.

More than a week later, authorities confirmed the case was not an isolated event. According to Animal Protection Officer Samantha Martin, the same raccoon has been involved in multiple prior break-ins, including incidents at a local karate studio and a Department of Motor Vehicles office, where food items were reportedly consumed. 😬

Officials noted that relocating raccoons is typically avoided due to survival risks, and despite prior interventions, the animal has managed to return to familiar buildings.

The unusual series of events has fueled online attention, with the liquor store break-in becoming the most widely shared moment.

Local animal protection services confirmed the raccoon was safely handled following the incident.

🎄🍻 Whether you’re wrapping gifts or posted up on the couch in full hibernation mode, these local holiday sips are here to keep your spirits bright (and your glass full):

🍪 – Gingerbread Flavoured German Amber Lager (5.3%)
Festive without being sweet. This clean, easy-drinking German-style lager is gently spiced with ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg for a subtle gingerbread vibe that doesn’t overpower. A seasonal classic that pairs just as well with dinner as it does with dessert. 🎁

🍺 – Traditional Ale (5.0%)
A true Alberta classic. This English-style brown ale has been brewed the same way since day one, delivering toasty malt, sweet caramel, nutty notes, and a smooth, balanced finish. Cozy, dependable, and perfect for any holiday gathering — or solo pint by the fire. 🔥

🍫 – Sugar Nap Pastry Stout (10.0%)
It’s the holidays — time is fake and calories don’t count. This ultra-decadent pastry stout is rich, creamy, and absolutely stacked with chocolatey malt, vanilla, and a touch of milk sugar. Think boozy chocolate cake with icing on top. One glass might be enough… but we won’t judge if it’s not. 😴🍰

❤️ – Alpine Cranberry Sour (4.5%)
Bright, light, and beautifully tart. Brewed originally for Thanksgiving, this kettled sour is infused with Canadian cranberries for a crisp pop of acidity that cuts through rich holiday meals like a dream. Turkey dinner approved. 🍗❄️

🔥 – Gingerbread Massacre (5.5%)
Malty, spiced, and unapologetically festive. A caramel-forward base loaded with warming ginger and cinnamon, subtle sweetness, and a biscuity finish. It’s gingerbread… but make it bold. Perfect for cold nights and holiday chaos alike. 🎄💥
