I’d choose a cup of tea over coffee almost every time. ☕🫖

Don’t get me wrong… I enjoy the smell of fresh coffee. But when I drink it, I’m always tempted to add the flavoured creamer (and maybe a little too much of it! 🤭).

Tea, on the other hand? I can happily sip it black all day long. From bold breakfast blends to delicate florals and everything in between, I never feel like I need to add anything. It’s simple, comforting, and lets each tea shine just as it is. 🩷

One of the great Alberta summer dilemmas… ☀️🌹

We wait so long for summer to arrive, and then suddenly it feels like we’re racing against the calendar. The gardens begin to bloom, the patios fill up, and every weekend seems packed with possibilities. 🥰

This rosebud was photographed in the morning and by afternoon it had opened into a full bloom. Beautiful, but also a reminder of just how quickly this season moves. 🌹✨

Every year I tell myself I’m going to slow down and savour it all—the morning tea on the deck, the evening walks, the garden blooms, the backyard birds. Yet somehow I always feel the urge to cram an entire summer’s worth of memories into the first two weeks! 😫

So tell me, how do you slow down and appreciate the season without feeling like you need to do everything all at once? ☕💕

For now, I’m taking my cue from the roses: bloom when it’s time, enjoy the sunshine, and trust that there’s enough summer to savour one beautiful day at a time.🎀

We may be a little biased, but the answer is absolutely yes. 💕 There’s just something magical about seeing cupcakes, pastries, and sweet treats displayed on a beautiful tiered stand. It turns an ordinary dessert into a special occasion and adds a touch of whimsy to every gathering.

One thing I’ve learned this last year and a half of setting tables and creating tea experiences? Always pack an extra tray and a few extra place settings. ☕✨

Most of the time they’re simply a “just in case” item. But every now and then, they become part of a story. 🎀

At a recent Celebration of Life, one of the guests arrived carrying a homemade treat that had been a favourite of their dear friend. Because we had an extra tray tucked away, we were able to beautifully display it right alongside the rest of the buffet as though it had always been part of the menu. 🍒

And honestly? It became the star of the table in my opinion. ❤️

Not because it was the fanciest item there, but because it carried memories, love, and a connection to someone deeply missed. Sometimes the most meaningful additions aren’t planned—they simply find their place.🥰

It’s moments like these that remind me why the little details matter. 🫖🌸

One question I get asked from time to time is, “Do all of your teacups match?”

The answer is a cheerful no! 💕

At The Travelling Teacups, we exclusively use vintage china in beautifully mismatched patterns. Every place setting is a little different, with its own colours, flowers, history, and charm. 🌷✨

Some people love delicate pink roses, others are drawn to bold blues or colourful bouquets. When all the patterns come together on a table, they create something truly magical—a whimsical garden of teacups where no two guests have exactly the same experience. 🌿☕

For me, the mismatched china is part of what makes afternoon tea so special. It feels collected, loved, and full of stories. Perfectly imperfect. 💖

There’s something especially meaningful about packing our Forget-Me-Not china pattern for a Celebration of Life. 💙🌸

The delicate little blue flowers have long been a symbol of remembrance, enduring love, and cherished memories — making them a fitting choice when families gather to honour someone special. 🎀

As I set out this empty three-tiered stand, I’m reminded that every event begins with a blank canvas. A little while later, it’s transformed with carefully prepared tea sandwiches, sweet treats, and shared stories. 🫖🥪✨

It’s never just about the food or the china. It’s about creating a warm space where memories can be shared, laughter can mingle with tears, and loved ones can come together in remembrance. 🫖💗
