Each one is chef-crafted with care, layered with flavour, and designed to be as beautiful as it is delicious. 🤤 In fact, many of our guests love them so much, they order their favourites again and again — even without the full tea party! 🎀

🫖✨ The Story of English Afternoon Tea — in a Sip

Tea first arrived in England in the 1650s, quietly appearing in London’s coffee houses. But everything changed in 1662 when King Charles II married Catherine of Braganza — a Portuguese princess with a deep love for tea. 🍵

Her royal habit turned a humble drink into a fashionable pastime, and the aristocracy soon followed suit, sipping for pleasure rather than just for health. 🍃

By the 1700s, tea had become a symbol of luxury and refinement — served in gleaming silver teapots and the finest china cups. But it wasn’t until the 1840s that afternoon tea as we know it was born: a delightful little pause between lunch and dinner, complete with dainty cakes and finger sandwiches. 🍰🥪

Queen Victoria embraced it, garden parties flourished, and before long, afternoon tea was no longer just a royal ritual — it was a cherished tradition across England and beyond. 💐

To be honest, I found myself tearing up a little as I set up for this event. It is such an honour to be invited into these tender moments — to help create a space where family and friends can gather, remember, and say goodbye. 🥲

In these settings, I so often meet kindred spirits — people who carry a special memory or connection to tea time. A grandmother’s china, a Sunday ritual, a warm pot shared with a dear friend… 🫖 Each story is a reminder of how tea truly is a universal comfort, gently weaving its way through every chapter of life. 🎀
