Love is in the air ~ and so is the smell of fresh ciabatta and eucalyptus! 🥖🌿

We had the honor of creating this dreamy grazing table for a beautiful bridal shower here in Calgary. Artisan charcuterie, premium cheeses, honeycomb and all the best accompaniments, every bite was made to celebrate love (and wow the guests! 🤩💞).

We’re throwing a pairing party! Introducing the first installment of Very Fine Things, a recurring series of pairing and tasting events, we’re hosting in collaboration with some of Calgary’s most dope and tastiest creators and brands.

To kick it off, we’re bringing in Brie & Banquet, Calgary’s first cheese and charcuterie focused, grazing caterer. Brie and Banquet specializes in high aesthetics, luxury experience, and damn delicious bites.

For this event we’re focused on exploring the limits of fermented barley and cultured milk; beer and cheese! We’ll besampling 5 beers (and mayyyybe a bonus or two) specially paired with 10+ cheeses, along with a variety of accompaniments; crackers, butters, breads, and spreads. Brie & Banquet is bringing the whole farm, the cheese will be stacked high and piled pretty, it’s an all you can cheese affair. Expect to learn a little, and taste a lot!

Katie, the founder of Brie & Banquet is a certified cheese professional, a sommelier, and a master of all things delicious. Katie will be joining Blake, one of the Cold Garden founders, and head of the tasty liquid’s creation department at CG, to host the evening.

ENGAGED || 1000 POST || we’ve been a little quiet on the gram the past couple of weeks ~ between many gorgeous events with all of you ~ I have also been floating in a big, bright love bubble after getting engaged to the man of my dreams a week ago! 🤍🤍🤍

My amazing fiancé (eep!) Blake, and the loveliest Ellinor of spent the past three months designing this absolutely stunning engagement ring for me. I’m obsessed with its beauty, its thoughtful, intentional, unique perfection. It’s better than anything I’ve dreamt of. Thank you so much Ellinor for guiding my guy through this process and creating something so magical for us. 🩷💍💎💚

Blake has been in my life long before I started Brie & Banquet and he has been an immeasurable support for me and B&B along the way. Being a passionately creative business owner himself (he’s a co-owner and brew master ) we share a special understanding, and I truly can’t imagine accomplishing all that I do without him by my side, always cheering me on, raising me up, telling me straight, and giving me the freedom to work really freaking hard, and sometimes really freaking long, building this little luxury catering co.

Some of you may have caught him in one of our pink aprons in the kitchen during bustling Christmas times (letting me bark orders like a low key Ramsay lunatic, always with a clever, playful jab or a hilarious new “idea”, and granting me endless grace 🙏🏻💋), or delivering dozens of solo boxes on impossibly short timelines in the craziest days of covid, or maybe literally hand-bombing refrigerators during booth setups at taste of calgary or rocky mountain wine & food fest (I mean, after moving about 3 million kegs, surely a fridge weighs nothing, right?) 💪🏻😂

Whether we’re dining at a Michelin, or sipping pints in a dank pub, toasting Dom P with Osetra caviar, or shotgunning Alpines and road tripping with pep n’ cheds, it’s always so fun, so delicious and absolutely dreamy, because I’m with him 🥰🥰🥰 Now, time to start planning a fu***ng epic party!!

🍷🍾🥂 We’re celebrating the (long awaited) results of my WSET3 exam, passing with distinction in the (highly anticipated and equally feared) blind tasting portion. 🥳 GUYS! I’m really good at drinking wine!!

My passion and curiosity for wine is very young, it was only two short years ago that I began this intense and delicious journey. Previous to that, I thought wines all tasted “like wine” and didn’t understand what all the fuss was about. {If you feel this way now ~ keep your eyes on this page ~ I’ll find a way to change your mind!}

Since then I’ve taken classes with and I’ve completed WSET1, 2 and now 3 (phewf!) and became certified in French Wine.

I highly recommend .e.book Sensory Masterclass which is where it truly all started for me!!! Learning to taste wine has deeply developed my palate, for wine, cheese and everything in between.

I’ve road-tripped all across France, visiting vineyards and producers in Alsace, Chablis and Burgundy, Provence the Southern Rhone, Sauternes and Bordeaux, and of course the epic caves of the luxurious Champagne region.🇫🇷

I’ve toured and fell in love with Nova Scotian wines (iykyk) and explored the Okanagan and the wines of BC. 🇨🇦

I feel like this achievement is one of those markers where you’re like “holy s**t, how did i get here…?” and I’m intensely grateful ❤️

Now that thaaaats over with, let’s drink some wine for FUN! Hahaha 📚📖🙇🏼‍♀️
