We are mourning the passing of Frank Meixner, President of the Austrian-Canadian Society.
Frank was 92.
Frank held the role of President since 1987. As a volunteer, he worked full time, overseeing staff and the board of directors, business operations, and building maintenance. Some of his proudest achievements were paying off debts of the club after we secured our own building and putting us in good financial standing. In doing so, he ensured that our community and our guests had a home for years to come. He was also so proud of his work for the 1988 Olympics.
His legacy is substantial. We are grateful for his hard work, his stewardship, his belief in the value of our Austrian-Canadian community –– the first generation, the kids and grandkids, and guests who’ve returned to the club and made it their place too.
There is so much more we could say. Frank was our close friend. In addition to our gratitude for his contributions, we are grateful for his kindness, generosity and sense of humour.
We extend our condolences to his family and to the many, many friends who will miss him. The Board will be honouring Frank with initiatives and we will share those details with you in the months ahead.
We hope that when you’re at the club, you’ll share your memories of Frank and enjoy the space he took such pride in.
For now, thank you Frank. Ruhe in Frieden!
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
Austrian-Canadian Society
