🚨 ARTIST HIGHLIGHT - SLED ISLAND EDITION : The Blox Arts Centre is proud to feature Suffering Hour Minneapolis blackened death metal outfit Suffering Hour have built a reputation for combining crushing heaviness with atmospheric depth and fearless experimentation.

SUFFERING HOUR:

Suffering Hour are a blackened death metal band from Minneapolis, Minnesota whose unique blend of black metal, death metal, gothic rock, and dissonance has earned them acclaim throughout the underground metal scene.

The band first gained recognition with their 2017 debut album In Passing Ascension, a guitar-driven exploration of nihilistic savagery. They continued to push their sound forward with the 18-minute EP Dwell (2019), followed by The Cyclic Reckoning, a release that marked a turning point in their evolution and experimentation.

In 2022, Suffering Hour joined forces with Irish death metal heavyweights Malthusian for the split release Time’s Withering Shadow. Since then, they’ve performed at major festivals around the world including Maryland Deathfest, Covenant Festival, Killtown Deathfest, and SWR Barroselas in Portugal, alongside multiple European tours.

Following a hiatus during their drummer’s battle with cancer, the band has returned with renewed momentum, releasing their latest EP Impelling Rebirth through Profound Lore Records and resuming live performances.

🚨 ARTIST HIGHLIGHT: The Blox Arts Centre is excited to feature : a Calgary-based mathcore band delivering chaotic energy, crushing riffs, technical precision, and an intense live experience. Blending mathcore, progressive metal, deathcore, and death metal influences, Indigo Ice pushes the boundaries of heavy music both on stage and in the studio.

Indigo Ice: a 3-piece Calgary mathcore band carving out their own lane within the heavy music scene. Inspired by bands such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Car Bomb, Veil of Maya, and The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, the band combines technical chaos, aggressive experimentation, emotional intensity, and unpredictable songwriting into a volatile and immersive sound.

The band consists of:

⚡ Mike James : Guitar, Bass, Production
⚡ Spencer Brown : Drums
⚡ Cliff Aubut : Vocals

Known for their explosive live performances, Indigo Ice brings abrupt transitions, heavy breakdowns, raw atmosphere, technical musicianship, and intense crowd engagement to every show.

No Closure (2026)

Released February 27, 2026, No Closure marks the band’s sophomore EP and first release featuring vocalist Cliff Aubut. Produced in-house by Mike James, the EP sees Indigo Ice stepping deeper into their own identity. Balancing heaviness, chaos, emotional depth, and technical precision.

Themes throughout the EP include:

🚨 ARTIST HIGHLIGHT: The Blox Arts Centre is excited to feature - a Calgary based youth death metal band delivering crushing riffs, raw energy and a powerful underground presence. Blending death metal with sludge and thrash influences. Kleaver brings intensity both on stage and in the studio.

Kleaver:

Kleaver is a rising force in Calgary’s metal scene, driven by a passion for loud, heavy music. Fronted by Alec’s high-energy presence, with Ben and Levi delivering brutal riffs and solos, and Simon (drums) and Edwin (bass) locking in a powerful rhythm section.

Their sound pulls from death metal, sludge, and thrash, with lyrical inspiration rooted in sci-fi and Greek mythology.
