🎄 A Big Thank You to the Community 🎄

I was recently selected in a draw from the “Christmas Lights in Hamilton, Burlington, Ancaster & Stoney Creek” Facebook group after sharing photos of the Rusty Griswold Light Display. The prize was a $25 gift card — and I asked for it to be donated directly to Halton Women's Place instead.

This display has always been about spreading joy, giving back, and bringing the community together. There are so many incredible local displays out there, and I’m grateful to be part of a group that celebrates creativity, generosity, and Christmas spirit.

Thank you to everyone who visited, shared kind words, donated to Halton Women’s Place, or simply took a moment to enjoy the lights this season. 💡❤️

This is what community looks like.

Did you know? Canada Post lists Santa’s home as the North Pole, Canada, using the magical postal code H0H 0H0. In 2008, Santa was proudly named a Canadian citizen.

December 29 - ⚠️ Tonight’s Light Show – CANCELLED

Due to the forecast calling for wind gusts up to 90 km/hr, tonight’s light show is CANCELLED.

High winds often lead to power outages and sudden power spikes, which aren’t friendly to lights or controllers that are turned on. Out of an abundance of caution, the show will NOT run this evening.

Thanks for your understanding and support! 🎄✨

*** UPDATE *** Show will start at 6:00pm as scheduled. May end early this evening. If you are visiting, please be safe. Be careful of the roads and sidewalks. Listen to any advisories, as the show will continue running until January 4. ***

Keeping a close eye on the weather today (Boxing Day). An ice storm cut the season short a few years back, so I’m being cautious. I’ll post updates here on Facebook and on my website to let everyone know if the show will be running tonight.

A quick note from the guy behind the lights 🎄

This year marks 10 years of the Rusty Griswold Christmas Light Display. Ten years of planning, building, fixing, standing outside in the cold, and doing it all for one simple reason: to bring a little joy to the community — for free.

Lately, I’ve seen a handful of reviews that focus on inconveniences rather than the intent. Things like traffic, apps, or the fact that lots of people come to see it. I understand not everything is for everyone — but it’s hard to read criticism that misses the heart of why this exists.

This display isn’t a business. There’s no ticket booth. No ads. No obligation to come at all. It’s a labour of love, built on my own time and at my own expense, simply to share something joyful during the holidays.

I’m incredibly grateful for the thousands of families who get it — who smile, wave, donate to Halton Women’s Place, and say thank you. You’re the reason this has lasted a decade.

I’ll be honest: after 10 years, some of the negativity has made me pause and reflect on whether this should continue. But for now, I’m choosing to focus on the joy, the kindness, and the true spirit of the season.

If you’ve enjoyed the display, thank you for being part of it. That support means more than you know ❤️
