Soaking up every moment of spring I can around here these days. If I’m not at my desk editing your beautiful photos, you can usually find me barefoot in the yard, making everything around me a little more beautiful.

I took a month away from Instagram and have been busy behind the scenes.

I’m finally nearing the completion of a beautiful new website that I cannot wait to share. It has taken much longer than I expected, but I’m a perfectionist and I wanted every detail to feel meaningful and intentional.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve photographed two weddings and countless sessions, spent long days in the studio painting and creating, made meaningful memories with family, and welcomed our new puppy, Tilly, home.

I’ve pulled hundreds of weeds, planted countless seeds, and spent more evenings than I can count watching things grow.

My heart feels peaceful, and I’m ready to start sharing all of the beautiful work I’ve been capturing.

But first, a little glimpse into spring at home.

I came across a sentence I wrote in my journal years ago: “nostalgia, I live there.”

It stopped me.

It made me reflect on where this career has taken me over the past 15 years. Every opportunity, every success, every failure has led me here. I am always learning, always creating, always welcoming new ideas into my heart.

Over the years, I’ve had many dreams. Some have come true. Some I’m still working toward. Some I’ve let go of, and others I’ve set aside for the future. This journey has been beautiful, but it has never been easy. Building a career in art rarely is.

When I read my old journals, there’s a common thread: the pursuit of a dream, and the hope that people will trust me to tell their story through my eyes.

I am 38 years old, and I’m still chasing that dream. I choose not to compare myself to anyone but who I was yesterday.

We all make mistakes. We all fail. What matters is perseverance. That’s what has carried me this far. That’s what keeps the dream alive.

There was a moment I’ll never forget. I stood still and cried, tears of accomplishment. I had done things that once felt out of reach, beyond what I believed was possible. And I made it through.

I took risks. I worked harder than I ever have. Sixteen-hour days, unseen moments, pushing forward even when I felt defeated.

It always comes down to a choice: give up, or keep going.

This year, I’ve been showing up every day with a dream. Moving forward. Creating beauty.

Maybe that’s why I do what I do.
To hold onto moments that would otherwise be gone.

To give them a place to live on.

Because in the end, it was never just about the dream.

It was about becoming the person who didn’t give up on it.
